According to the Daily Telegraph we are on the verge of signing young Barton, and hes good mates with Stevey G!!

I know i know, too many rumours, dont believe all you read, blah blah blah, but this is the telegraph! no the the sun o any other trashy tabloid that prints anything ti wants to

i hope we dont pay much!

This rumor has been around for a few months.

He is a Liverpool boy, and I think he can take over from Hamann as the anchor man.

He'll cost us about 3MIL.

I could handle 3 million, and i like when we buy close to home grown talent. An anchor man who can do a lil more is always helpful as well and it will leave us more money to buy VDV :laugh:

I'm sure we have players with equal ability coming through the ranks and feel 3 mill would be money better spent elsewhere

As for him replacing Hamann thats ******.

He's not in Didi's class and we need an attacking midfielder to replace Didi, not another fecking defensive one.

My Uncle's cousin is good mates with Stevie Gerrard but Liverpool aren't signing him !!!!!!! So LFC are about to sign Joey on the basis that he is bestest mates with SG ?

Right , Ok I am Michael Owen's Gimp, will Liverpool sign me please ? !!!!

Bottom line is we need an established top drawer midfielder , Lampard would be ideal, Davids wouldn't go amiss or Joe Cole.

P.S. Of the aforementioned Ex West ham lads, what happenned to that other promising young player there , Michale Carrick

Carrick isn't and never has been good enough.

Lampard wouldn't be ideal, waste of money and isn't anywhere near good enough imo and also, Joey Barton isn't a scouser.

He's from fecking Runcorn people.

You may argue he has similar game to Gerrard but he would be superb in the middle. Watching him recemtly lost count of the amonut of times he broke through and created chances, he scores for fun and can tackle, has the stamina and speed.........

i agree that if you were picking on form, gerrard and lampard would start for england and scholes would be dropped. he's had a very poor season by his standards.

i wouldn't be surprised if lampard ended up in italy next season. his contract talks have apparently stalled at chelsea.
