He is not pretty to watch, he is not blessed with skill and he id defintely anything but natural.

For a right midfielder (predominently with a handful of games up front covering for Torres) double figures and 5/6 assists for the season is an excellent return wether you think he looks like sloth off the goonies or not.

Take a look at a decent example in our squad of the opposite. Babel, with tons more skill and bags more potential and natural ability - tries no where near as much as Kuyt and is a waste of space at times. I know which I would rather have.

Dutch managers for the last four or five seasons also cant be that far off the mark with the kid.

I have never read any of the forums I frequent and seen the words skill or natural footballing ability mentioned in the same sentence as Dirk Kuyt.

He is not pretty to watch, he is not blessed with skill and he id defintely anything but natural.

I can understand to a degree the lambasting of Lucas for his shortcomings, but why quite so much venom is aimed at Kuyt I will never know. Worse players than him, past and present get less criticism

i'd rather play the one who puts in half the effort but scores a goal every 2.3 starts and and lands an assist every 7 starts.

fair play if you prefer the one who runs around like a headless chicken, scores a goal every 3.7 starts and lands an assist every 8.25 starts.

...look, each to their own - Kuyt has his positives but i don't agree that a liverpool team should be picked based on how hard a player works - this isn't sunday league football.
