I'd like to see us win this, not that I care much about the competition in question, but a run of one win in four games would be all too familiar and similar to what happened last season.

2007/8

11/08-29/09 : P11 W7 D4 L0 - unbeaten start to the season
03/10-24/10 : P4 W1 D1 L2 - one win in four games
28/10-02/12 : P8 W6 D2 L0 - unbeaten in eight games
08/12-19/12 : P4 W1 D0 L3 - one win in four games
22/12-26/01 : P9 W4 D5 L0 - unbeaten in nine games
30/01-16/02 : P4 W1 D1 L2 - one win in four games
19/02-15/03 : P7 W7 D0 L0 - won seven in a row

then the unbeaten runs stopped being split by one win in four, just two defeats in the last 12 games including one run of eight unbeaten.

Yes, this season looks very different because we've won more games and not drawn as many. But we still can't afford to slip into poor form and we need to keep winning.

I suspect Rafa will rest players midweek. I'd still have Torres on the bench, but with Kuyt being used wide a lot and Keane playing a lot of game, there aren't too many alternatives in the striking department. Keane has played some part in every game this season, Kuyt has missed just one game. Winning is important at the weekend, I wouldn't be too thrilled to see N'Gog and Babel up front. I'd take three points at the weekend over a win midweek, I'd rather win both though.

I cant get excited for matches in this cup!
I reckon we will see a mix n match of experience and youth in the starting 11 and deffo expect Nando to play some part for his match fitness!
It could be a tough enough game as Spurs will be going for this cup bigtime, the reality is that this and the FA cup are their only hopes of a trophy.they are also playing well and had a good win away to City at the weekend,TBH I wont be too bothered if we loose,in fact it may be a blessing(less games to play later in the season).
I would much rather mount a title challenge than win this cup!

i'd like to see us win this game just to bring 'arry down to earth a bit. like no.9 said, this and fa cup is their big chance of silverware. They wont win the FA cup cos we will, so to knock 'em out this early in this cup would be great because to be honest I HATE SPURS! :D

I would too, but I'd rather pick up a bit of form again than lose this one just because the cup is not very important. Winning is a habit, plus I'd rather not lose to spudz twice in such a short time

All for the f'ck Louise Redknapp motion

Sadly, I think the first XI will look more like a mix mash of first team and fringe than first team and youth.    Cavaleri, Degen, Hyypia, Dosenna, Pennant,Lucas, Mascherano, Babel to be amongst Carra, Gerrard, and Keane. Torres on subs bench again. (imagine if he reaggravated his injury in a Carling Cup match :(            )

Spurs are still :censored: but they have been grinding out results and have not played to well in either of those games except the uefa cup game . If the same team started when we played them in the league we would give them a thumping .

Cavileri

Arbeloa        Hypia       Agger        Dossena

Pennant       Lucas       Alonso       Babel

                  Torres       Keane

2-1 to us , with torres scoring and keane as well

I would definitely give some of the fronge and youth players a chance in this match but have some experience on the bench. I reckon Torres could do witha run out do get his match fitness back, why not play him with N'Gog or Pachecho?

I am not really that concerned with this Cup, yes it would be nice to win EVERY game but I would prefer to see the kids that we seem to be investing in have a run out and save our best 14 for the more important games, I don't know how we are going to see if any of them are worth keeping if we don't give them a chance. I can see Spurs playing a strong team for this one so it will be a good experience for them . I have nothing against Harry ( even though he cost me a fortune in the Arsenal game  )

There's f*ck-all point in having a big squad if we're going to play the first team in the "first" round of the league cup.

Total change of staff for this one if you ask me, bringing in players who should be trying to stake a claim and send a message.
