UEFA Team Ranking 2007 is out now, nice to see we are 3rd in the list.

Strange to see Newcastle so highly placed, maybe winning the intertoto cup is worth much more than we thought  :p

All 4 top English teams in the top 10 as well

Can't think what Inter Milan have done to get 4th place though.

League form is taken into account and Inter Milan were superb.  They were so consistent and were the dominant force in Serie A.

Bayern on the other hand were awful in the Bundesliga hence being as far down as 18th.

Then how are Arsenal ahead of United and Chelsea  ???

Both finished higher in the league and went further in the champions league.

Leeds are the equal 10th best placed English side, along with Fulham.

If that doesn't tell you how much of a joke these rankings are, I don't know what will. :D

Christ, Ipswich are the 13th English team, just ahead of Everton, Millwall and Southampton. Basically anyone that's been in Europe over the last decade seems to get a ranking.

Everton, big club that they are, just nip in ahead of Slovan Liberec (who?), but sadly lag behind the big guns of Wisla Kraków and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

Was surprised to see them way down there.

Look at previous years though - Leeds were 16th in 2004.

Shocking attitude that, mate.  Third is not and never will be good enough for Liverpool Football Club.  Sort it out Rafa!

Its calculated over the last 5 years, although Ipswich and Leeds still confuse me. I spose United (Newcastle not scum) are there because the went a decent distance in the Uefa cup and have consistantly used the InterToto cup to get in which must qualify as success...

leeds are there cos just a few years ago they were seen as one of the best teams in the world.
before they took a massive drop because of no money they were doing really well in champ league. so im guessing they take more into account than just five years me thinky
hence the reason ipswich, milwall etc are in there hehe

n bayern were :censored: last year which is why there so low, but honestly next year i reckon they will be the team to beat as they have improved their team so much this summer, scarryy :p

UEFA don't make any differential between CL and UEFA Cup games - coefficient points are awarded for games won and drawn. The UEFA Cup usually has more games per season and because of the structure of the competition anyone getting to the latter stages will be bound to have a few wins under their belt. Seville have won it twice in a row and Newcastle have had a few good runs in the UEFA Cup - 04, 05 and last season.

At the end of the day, we'll need to do well this year to stay top of the English rankings. On the positive side, if United have another poor year they could drop out of the top eight ranked clubs and go into pot two!  :D
