From Soccernet:
Liverpool are believed to have offered a trial to Greek striker Lazaros Christodoupoulos.
The 20-year-old from PAOK Salonika is regarded as one of the best young players in Greece and did not travel with PAOK's squad for their pre-season trip to France.
Christodoupoulos, who has three years left on his contract at PAOK, has a release clause of £136,000.

Anyone know anything about this kid? £136,000 sounds like a pretty safe bet on someone who's at least thought to be good talent.

Greek trialist impresses Rafa

By Adam Bryant Wednesday 26th July 2006

Lazaros Christodoulopoulos has been offered a three-yer contract after impressing Rafael Benitez while on trial at Melwood this week, according to reports in the Greek press.

The 20-year-old striker was spotted by Liverpool's new chief scout Eduardo Macia playing for PAOK Salonika.

Liverpool trialist Lazaros Christodoulopoulos is set to sign a three-year contract, according to Greek sources.

We revealed on Monday that Christodoulopoulos was on trial at Anfield, but he has obviously wasted little time in impressing.

Greek reports now claim that Christodoupoulos has agreed a three-year contract with The Reds and he has already passed a medical.

Christodoupoulos was spotted by Liverpool's new chief scout Eduardo Macia playing for PAOK Salonika and coach Rafa Benitez has obviously been sufficiently impressed by the 20-year-old.

Christodoupoulos has a get-out clause of just over £130,000 so Liverpool have no doubt decided that the risk in taking on the young striker for such a nominal fee is not a big one

Good news, decent prospect snapped up for a very cheap fee, can only be a win win situation for us, the speed in which he has impressed makes him even more intriguing

I take it it's the cash the club will make on putting his name on the back of the shirts that has clinched the deal then?

Highly doubt it...unless we've got an even smaller budget than we think

Am liking the thought of God and Christ being in the same team as well. Biblical curses on all our rivals!!

A plague of locusts at Stamford Bridge, the death of every first born Mancunian.

Marvellous. :D

Another example of our scouts working wonders. Not many people will have done so much to improve Rafa in such a small period of time!! He MUST be a prospect. At 20 he is of the age when he could be involved in the 1st team!
