There has been a report that Old Trafford have encountered a plague of mice on the pitch. Especially on Sunday, our boys will face 11 rats in red, plus extra vermin on the pitch. Tuck your socks into your pants boys!

REPORTS from England have suggested Manchester United had more than its permitted 11 players on deck this week to fend of non-League FA Cup hopeful Burton Albion.

An army of mice reportedly got under the bootlaces of the travelling minnows at Old Trafford during their third-round replay, which Albion lost heavily 5-0 after squeaking into the econd match with a 0-0 draw a week prior.

There were no Toms in Burton Albion gear to chase away the vermin, and a raft of complaints have come United's way as a result.

Albion defender Ryan Austin told London's The S*um (thanks Sabre!!-ed) newspaper: "Every time I looked down, I saw a mouse.

"There were loads of them and I've never seen that before. There was plenty of seed on the grass, so I suppose they were feeling peckish."

A United spokesman also confirmed the tail . . . tale, we mean.

"There were a number of mice on the pitch," he said.

Pictures taken at the ground on Thursday morning (AEDT) confirmed the presence of the small rodents, and thankfully for animal lovers, none appeared to have been crushed in the same manner Burton was by United.

The club is insisting it is not a major problem.

"It's not something that we've had a big problem with in general," Phil Townsend, a club spokesman, said.
"(The ground) is between a canal and a railway line, so the amount of debris around here, such as food wrappers, is a source of concern."

I actually found the report on foxsports.com.au and usually they are very good. But understandably, they have used The S*um, and obviously not a very rich source of information.

Heh, remember that old pic that wasn't funny and was released when Crouch wasn't scoring? the one with 10 donkeys and one giraffe that was supposed to be Crouch and was supposed to be funny? (1)

We should make one now with 10 mices and 1 monkey resembling Rooney or something.

Sabre

(1) I didn't think so, but since Judge said it was funny, how could I say it isn't

The rat has been sniffed out: Mike Riley - who has awarded 8 penalties to Man Ure in his last 9 games in charge at Old Trifford!
