Anelka wants to come back to England? I know its been done before, but under Houllier, what does Rafa make of this after we get our defence sorted in the transfer window?

I SUGGEST BLACBURN'S PEDERSEN FOR RM.

He's been the most consistent player alongside dickov. Alas, i don't favour dickov since he reminds me of abramovich. Pedrsen's got the pace, agility for both ground and arial plays, and he's got the guts to play aggresive.

Agger: Reds on brink of deal

Jan 4 2006

By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo

Brondby's Daniel Agger tussles with Steven Gerrard during England's friendly defeat to Denmark

LIVERPOOL hope to conclude the signing of Daniel Agger by the weekend.

Brondby's chief executive returns from holiday tomorrow, when negotiations to bring the Dane to Anfield will enter the final stages.

The major obstacles which blocked the transfer last summer have been overcome, as Liverpool close in on a player who's been a consistent target of manager Rafa Benitez.

The 21-year-old centre-half is already preparing for the switch to Merseyside, with the fee likely to be around £5.5m.

Agger should become the second significant signing of January, following Dutchman Jan Kromkamp, who is tying up the formalities of his transfer today.

Kromkamp was undergoing a medical at Melwood this afternoon before completing the deal which saw Josemi sign for Villarreal.

Meanwhile, Deportivo Saprissa winger Christian Bolanos is currently trying to convince Benitez he's the man to fill the right midfield vacancy in the squad.

The 21-year-old Costa Rican arrived at Melwood on trial on Monday, and has so far impressed the Reds staff.

Most of the Liverpool squad have had two days off following their exertions over the festive period as Benitez ponders his options ahead of the trip to Luton.

Scott Carson is in line for an appearance at Kenilworth Road as Benitez makes changes, although he's unlikely to rest all his senior stars.

A strong squad is expected to travel to Luton, but rookie Carson is expected to be handed an opportunity to impress.

Kromkamp could also be available for his debut.

Hawkmoon - I do recall saying before Xmas that we should go for Larsson. A short term fix but he would score a barrel load of runs in the Premiership. Not able to play in Europe but sure we can cope with that. I read in the paper that he is frustated with the lack of football at Barca but also that this would change when Eto went to the African Nations Cup.

Defoe would cost a lot of money. We would surely have to send Cisse the other way (I heard spurs were interested in summer) to fund the deal.

Martin Jol would have to be on drugs to welcome any deal involving Cisse and Defoe swapping clubs.

There's a couple of interesting things in todays Mirror.

One article says Rafa has already bid 4 million and then 6.5 for Gary O'Neil from Portsmouth, which is a bit strange...although i think he is a very decent player doesnt he play centre midfield ?

It also says in there that Fulham are considering a 2 million bid for Traore  :D
Lets hope that rumour is true eh.

In the blag whispers in there as well someone who services Defoe's car said he will be a LFC player before the new season starts as he wants to have a better chance of first team football  :D
