Jerome the Scouser - Liverpool Set to Swoop?

Reports are linking European Champions Liverpool with a January bid for Bluebirds hot-shot Cameron Jerome. The 19-year-old has found the net 13 times this season, and has already been subject to transfer speculation with a whole host of Premiership names.
Rumours suggest that European Champions Liverpool could be set to make an offer for Bluebirds top scorer Cameron Jerome.
Such speculation is always likely with the January transfer window opening on New Year's Day and Jerome having already commanded reported interest from a host of top clubs. The England Under-21 international would surely be keen on a move to Anfield, though the 19-year-old forward has often repeated his beliefs that he does not feel ready to play at the very highest level.
The club turned down a £250,000 bid from Sunderland for Jerome over the summer, but the player now commands a much large transfer fee after his blistering start to the season and his call-up alongside Graham Taylor's England youngsters.
An Anfield scouting source is alleged to have said:
"I believe Jerome is up to the standards that would be required of him. With the right coaching and education it is likely he would become a valuable addition to the squad. That is why at our most recent meeting with the first team coaches we put forward his name - and others - for consideration."
"I estimate his real value to be around the £1.5million. If we did make a move for him, I can't imagine us paying more than a couple of million."
City continue to struggle financially with mounting debts in excess of £30million. A bid of £2million would be very difficult to turn down and the club would struggle to deny Jerome the chance with one of the country's biggest names. His long-range strike at Reading on Bank Holiday Monday was his 13th strike of the season and with Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City already linked with the player's services, Yorkshire-born Jerome looks certain to be subject of mammoth transfer gossip throughout the month.
Bluebirds boss Dave Jones will be anxious to hold onto his leading marksmen, but has previously confessed that it would be impossible to deny the player a chance amongst football's elite should the right offer come in. The former Wolves chief is also keen to strengthen his current squad, and use any transfer fee for Jerome to add names to his threadbare set of players with fans desperate to see Jason Koumas sign permanently at Ninian Park.

Liverpool have been linked with an amazing double swoop for Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson and Spurs forward Jermaine Defoe.
Rafael Benitez is in the hunt for a forward with Djibril Cisse continually linked with a move away from Anfield.
Reports have suggested Defoe is becoming frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities at White Hart Lane and could be a target for the Reds.
Meanwhile Henrik Larsson has been linked with a loan switch to Liverpool.
The 34-year-old former Celtic striker is out of contract in the summer and is not getting regular football which has prompted talk of a possible move to England.
