Stupid question really, never in a million years would we let him talk to Real Madrid. Secondly, his job isn't finished and he would never leave without finishing his job. He didn't do it with Valencia, he won't do it with us.

I don't think for one minute Rafa would abandon his work in progress at Anfield and take the job at Madrid. That said, if he did "ask for permission" to speak to them then we may as well start looking for a new manager. Denying permission for a manager to "speak to " a rival club is patently obviously extreme folly because once the request is officially made, contacts have been going on behind the scenes for a while.
It's no worry though, Benitez has the opportunity to do something incredible at Liverpool and he knows it.

I've got to be honest here.
Rafa would make Real Madrid the best team in world football, and he'd probably be their greatest ever manager within 5 years. No-one, not even Moris would be able to do the job Rafa could.

However. (and I say this hoping.) The current squad at Real, and the President's stupid policy on recruiting a "Galactico" each season should make Rafa think "f*ck that". The reason Beni left Valencia is because the silly-a*se board wouldn't let Rafa buy the players HE wanted, prefering to buy the sh*te THEY wanted. This situation would be ten times worse at Real.
He has all he asked for at LFC, and is building a f*cking brilliant side capable of kicking the sh*t out of Moris' band of w*nkers, and regaining the title for the worthy owners. We have won the CL under Benitez's management, and he seems to have a real affinity with the club AND fans.

So here is my message to Real Madrid and all it's associates:

F*CK OFF YOU BIG-SPENDING B*STARDS. RAFA IS OUR MANAGER, AND, WITH BENI AS OUR BOSS, WE ARE GOING TO F*CK YOU ALL OVER WHEN WE MEET IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

I hope that t*at of a President of their's heeds this, and gets a third-rate c*nt like Moris, who can only succeed with a team who's funds vastly exceed those of other teams in the league.
B*stards.

I feel pretty confident Rafa won't be going anywhere.  I get the impression that Rafa would not leave a work in progress particularly one which has as much promise and potential as we do at the moment.  Rafa's style, as we know, is one of meticulous preparation with everything geared toward long term perfection and team building.  He's a stubborn bugger too so everything has to be on his terms.  He knows he still has plenty of time ahead of him and that resurrecting Liverpool to its rightful place at the pinnacle of the EPL gives him an even stronger CV than the one he has now.
Sure he probably does want the job at Real one day but I'm guessing that now is not the right time for Rafa, he knows that Real will come knocking again.

Madrid has been managed by 4 different managers in the past year, managing Real Madrid is a rather ''stupid headache'', especially now as the team is full of egotistic overpaid b@stards. It would be hard for anyone to take a team in December and get them to perform. Benitez is a good manager but he's no magician.

Anyone see Beckhams reaction when he got sent off? Classic! Go Barca!!!

I'm just worried that Benitez may be the next "Galactico" recruited with the temptation of all that money and his lifelong favourite club.

Liverpool Join Italians In Race For Trabelsi?
12/5/2005 2:06:00 PM
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Ajax defender Hatem Trabelsi.
The Tunisian ace will be out of contract this summer and instead of allowing him to move for free, the Dutch club may look to cash in in January.

Milan, Inter and Juventus have following the player for some time and will provide competition to Liverpool for his signature.

Arsenal were once close to signing Trabelsi before the deal fell through.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Sao Paulo defender Diego Lugano is unaware of speculation linking him with a move to Milan while Liverpool are also believed to be admirers of the centre back.

The Uruguay international is still coming to terms with his country's failure to reach the World Cup finals and is not paying too much attention to the stories claiming the Rossoneri will pay up to €4 million (£2.7 million) for his services.

Lugano is focusing on the World Club Championship in Japan with his club while the Brazilian outfit have indicated that Liverpool, Real Madrid and Sevilla also want to sign the player.

"I don't know anything about what is being said about Milan," he stated.

"It's good to know that there are European teams interested in me but, personally, at this moment, I am only thinking about how we will play with Sao Paulo in Japan.

"After that, in the future, I will decide what I will do with my career.

"In addition, to say the truth, there isn't currently anything official."

Sao Paulo's Marco Aurelio Cunha lifted the lid on the situation regarding Lugano.

"For only €4 million, I can ensure that Lugano will not leave Sao Paulo," said Cunha.

"We have already had a similar proposal this year from Real Madrid, Sevilla and Liverpool and we refused all of them."

Marseille chairman Pape Diouf has reiterated his desire to sign Djibril Cisse and claims the Liverpool striker is determined to head for Stade Velodrome.

The France attacker was left out of the Reds squad for the win at Sunderland in midweek but returned to make a brief substitute appearance in Saturday's comfortable success against Wigan Athletic.

After going on record to express his unhappiness at not being a regular starter, Cisse seems unsettled at Anfield and has emerged as a leading target for l'OM.

Diouf has revealed on Monday that he has made contact over a move for the 24-year-old with a loan deal on the agenda.

"This is, in effect, a possibility," Diouf told L'Est Republicain.

"Djibril is not satisfied with his game-time in Liverpool. And he has Marseille in his heart.

"He has pushed clearly to express his will to join us.

"As we look for a valued attacker, that obviously did not fall on deaf ears.

"For us, Djibril Cisse would be the ideal reinforcement.

"There is contact.

"A loan for six months, with an option to extend the adventure if everything went well, is conceivable.

"But in this complicated deal, it is necessary to advance step-by-step."

Cisse made his name with Auxerre before moving to Merseyside in a deal set up by Gerard Houllier.

This Phil, is the 64 000 dollar question. If Cisse is worth 14 million quid then I'm the president of Azerbarjan. An incredible piece of transfer bungling. Some have suggested that we overpaid for Crouch at 7 mill', god knows what they make of the Cisse transfer.

Liverpool have made an offer for Gabriel Paletta. It is rumoured that Liverpool have made a £3m bid for the young Argentine defender, who currently plays for Banfield in his homeland. He's 19, he helped Argentina to the World Youth Championship and more importantly, if he signed in January he would be able to play in the CL.

Sounds promising, i wouldn't say no. (source: ssn.com)

Also in todays Mirror, it says in there that we are waiting to see if he can get an EC passport as he is too young to get a work permit.

Obviously i have never heard of him, i would hope our scouts have had a good look.

I would hope that he would be ready to challenge for the first team immediately if we were to get him.

We need cover for this season as well as the future.
