Yes. Haven't seen him this season TBH, but last season he was one of the best strikers in Europe and a perfect fit for us. Should have went for him instead of Benteke this summer.

He's from Athletic Bilbao actually. I've probably seen him play once or twice but I have no recollection of his performances or the way he plays. I know that he's young and I think he's a winger.

Yes your right Bilbao (sorry), just having a look at a youtube compilation he does look a talent

I know January is a tough time to do business but some of the names we are being linked with are rather underwhelming.
They've just got that Alberto/Aspas/Assaidi vibe about them.

Aspas, have you seen his form this season ? Some of the goals he has scored and the quantity

Aspas probably is a decent player mate but I don't think he was ever cut out for English football.

Why would any club let one of their best players go mid-season?  Think about it.

Don't forget Sturridge, Coutinho and Suarez, three of the best players we've had this decade, were all January signings. Going back I'm sure Agger and Mascherano were mid season signings too, likewise Litmanen and Anelka.

Good players can be got in January if your scouting department is good enough and the will to go and get these players is there.

If we don't make any January signings though I won't grumble, to be fair to FSG they've put their hands in their pockets the last two summers for us in a big way.

I think Klopp is still assessing the squad, but might take a short term striker option to cover injuries much like Caulker in defence. He'll go for bigger targets in the summer. Can see Gotze coming and another 2 or 3 of good quality.

Shane Long anyone ?

A few nationals linking him again the past couple of days, valuing him at 8 million

Long would fit our pressing style perfectly. A player I like, but he's far from prolific. We've already got a younger version of him in Ings who is unfortunately crocked.

Plus, signing ANOTHER Southampton player would be quite embarrassing.

If it happened I wouldn't be disappointed though. 8mil is peanuts in today's game.

First Caulker now Long? WTF

Long ain't a big name Yakka, but he is constantly on the move unlike Benteke. His scoring record is about one in 4 or 5, at teams like Reading, WBA, Hull and Saints. Turns 29 this month. Scores some big goals for Ireland. Great in the air for his size.

The more I think about it the more I am coming round to the idea he'd be a good player to have around for a couple of seasons.

Don't get me wrong I'd prefer Lewandowski or Benzema! But I think Long is a good player.

I just couldn't see the likes of City, Arsenal, Chelsea or any of the other teams we are supposedly fighting it out with for a top 4 berth bringing in the likes of him and Caulker though mate, and let's face it if all our rivals started buying players of that ilk we'd all be ecstatic.
We can have whoever we want as manager but until our scouting improves all we will do is waste money and go backwards.

Not sure about buying Long, but like the idea of Anaki Williams.
