We are still along way off despite bringing in 5 players already especially as I think we could lose Skrtel.

Still need to get rid of Balotelli,Lambert and Borini

Looking at players like Bacca and Rondon and Illara is a step up from Konoplanyka

Take your point mate but with Gerrard and Johnson gone, Sterling probably going, Manqillo maybe returning to Spain and hopefully the three you've mentioned being moved on we may need some strength in depth if we're gonna have a tilt in all competitions.

Buck bringing in Rondon and Bacca may look good on the face of it but we are bleeding strikers at the moment

If we do sell our dead wood then maybe there is room for one of them but at the moment we are overcrowded in every position with very little quality

On a side note Skrtel has agreed his new contract, just the formalities left to complete

I think Ilori could be a big player for us at the back - IF - given a chance

Add Kovacic and illaremendi to those 2 and I think we'd be genuine contenders for a top 4 spot, not just hopefuls.

Firmino can play anywhere across the front 3. Maybe he'll be used as a striker when Sturridge is in the garage for repairs.

I'm still hoping we snap a good striker because when sturridge is out it will be difficult to get goalS.

This is the problem with signing the likes of Ings and Milner (regardless of the fee paid). We now have a newly signed striker who isnt good enough to start (even if it's just for a few months) and a midfielder who -for all intents and purposes is a squad player- expects to start regardless of the position despite not being good enough for a CM role or a wide forward role.

If we hadnt signed the pair we'd be looking at a better CF (Bacca as you suggest despite me not liking him) and a better midfielder (Kovacic, Illaramendi, Yarmolenko, etc) who would walk straightinto the starting 11 in their respective positions.

And before someone suggests that we need to improve the squad to become competitive, I think we have a good enough bench without needing to add the likes of Milner and Ings. Lallana, Markovic, Ibe, Can, Lucas are all backup for the midfield spots and Balotelli, Origi, Lambert, Borini are all backup for the forwards.

The problem is we can't rely on Borini , Lambert , Balotelli - all three can go - they won't ever score enough

Lucas is on his last legs as well IMO
