I heard from a mate of mine that he will sign when his contract ends in july 1st.

so expect him to be signed by liverpool by this date...hopefully

The fact that Rafa plays others at left back and is looking to sign a left back should tell you all you need to know about Riise.

He is OK, but nothing more than that. Apart from Right midfield, the problem area for us is undobtedly left back. We dont have anyone (or two) people who make it their own, its always chopped and changed.

Think about Finnan, one of the first names on the team sheet after Carra, Pepe and Stevie is his, no questions he is solid, reliable etc...

The same cannot be said for Arne, Warnock or Djimi, hance the need to improve the squad in this area.

Riise had his best season in his first full one, but has sadly gone backwards since then. dont let the goals fool you.

He had Harry Kewell in front of him and Finnan for the majority of the season had Gerrard in front of him, draw your own conclusions to who got more protection.

Ace mate, I promise you (and you can ask Murf) that I dont agree with most of the stuff he he says, but there is no way you can convince me of Riise's stranglehold on the left back position. Rafa seems to think that way as well.

Thats fair enough Leon, it just surprises me that alot are unconvinced by Riise.
I disagree that his first season was his best, i think last season was , in the first season he scored plenty of goals but was suspect defensively. Last season was his most consistent and he seems to have improved in one against one situations a great deal, he could still be better defensively but as i previously said with Kewell he doesnt get that much protection.
I am also not sure that Rafa doesnt rate him, the manager seems to want competition for places in every position and there's nothing to suggest that Riise will be the fall guy if Aurelio signs, Traore and Warnock are both more likely to go imo.

Bloodyhell ive stared some shiiite here avent I.

When I said hes the worst player weve got. What I should off said is hes the worst player weve got who gets his shirt every week. People can agree and disagree but I wathc the reds week in week out and the lad really is shiteeee.

The only thing I can say is watch the him this season with a close eye. I said the same thing to one off mates at the begining off the season and I was met with the same response. Riise, no, hes one off best performers. After my little chat with me mate he watched and there might off been two or three games out off about 30 games where he could honestly say he played well.

I rest my case anyway.

And no I dont want Roberto Carlos instead. lol :censored:

In a class side Riise will only be a squad player at best. He is a great guy, red through and through and will always give 100% but we can definetely improve our regular LB slot at the moment.
