Barry would be a good addition but not for 20m, i just wont to be clear on that, if thats the case we should go cold on it and see what happens, i still have a strong feeling that Rafa could go in for Quesema (sp?), what with Porto out of the CL, the fact its only one season ( for repeated cheating and bribing refs ) is shocking IMO but thats for a different thread.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

The bookies are quoting Villa at 100:1 to win the league => a 1% chance of winning so those lads are just turning up for the money.

If Barry has any balls he has to go to a top 4 side plus Champions League.

100:1, jeez I've got a better chance of shagging Miss World than Villa have of winning the league.  :laugh:

I think that in a Barry vs Alonso Swap, we'll win this:

In the Holding midfielder position

Xabi Alonso: ***** --> Excellent , IMHO.
Barry: *** ---> that is, a good cover for Mascherano

In the left midfielder position

Xabi Alonso: * -> Not able to play the position.
Barry: **** Good

In the Double Holding mid position

Xabi Alonso: **** ->  good
Barry: **** -> Good but More Mobile than Alonso, so our attack will be less predictible, and will allow the other holding mid "surprise" more.

So I think that will give the options that Rafa likes so much, that will be good for Rafa. But I think it will mean we'll see Barry in many roles depending which system we use. Which is something not very popular here as I don't need to explain.

I agree, Ashley Young would be availible for less than that. If that kind of money is availible I would like to think we could be going for the likes of Quaresma/Silva or perhaps even Ronaldinho. I'd like to keep Xabi, sell or loan Lucas and chase a Class winger.

I think it's bad for business to continue to pursue Barry.

It sends the message that LFC can be held to ransom for a 28 year old player who we may not even need anyway.

I didn't think that Cricket and Football were related. Forgive me.

It is being speculated that Lampard is the top target for Mourinho at Inter for a fee of 8MP. If this is to be believed, how can Barry be worth 15MP?
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

I think Lampard is out of contract next year, Barry has 2 or 3 years left on his.

To be cynical you could also say Barry is an England 1st choice midfielder (and potential Captain), Lampard is neither.

Also if you buy Lampard you need to extend the club cafeteria by 220 square feet to accomodate his appetite for pies (and construction costs a lot of money)  :D

Here's an idea:

Keep the far superior Alonso, and buy Villa with the Barry money...

Mmm, do you think Randy Lerner would be on for it?

Imagine, Marlon Harewood beside Torres and Zak Knight with Carra.  :buttrock
