Martin o'neil has just said on BBC in the half time interval with Lineaker that Villa have turned down an improved offer today for Barry...didn't say for how much though?...but he did say that he thought the chances of keeping hold of Barry were slim.....if Parry has got anything to do with this "Improved offer" then it will take forever to get him, knowing the way Parry conducts transfers he probably upped it by all of 50p!. ???

I think we should forget it and go for someone else.

Yup!
From the horses mouth that.
It seems O'Neill is resigned to the fact Barry will be playing in red next season.

That amuses me.

The times right to walk away and show interest elswhere, let them make the next move.
Id sooner see the deal fall through and give Alonso another season and invest in a class LW
Dont forget weve got Lucas and young Plessis looks the part,
Is Barry really the best move for us?

Cool Hand Luke wrote:£15 million is a fair value for Barry and if I were Aston Villa I wouldn’t take a penny less than that. But from our point of view we don’t want to spend that amount of cash on someone who is predominately a central midfielder when there are far more pressing areas of the team that need addressing.

The only solution is to offer some our players to sweeten the deal. Any of the following would be realistically good signings for Aston Villa and players we could afford to let go:

Finnan = 2-3 million
Riise = 4-6 million
Crouch = 9-12 million
Pennant = 4-5 million
Carson = 4-6 million

Those are just rough estimations but I think there is enough there for us to do a part exchange with Aston Villa meaning both clubs can do well out of the deal.

Riise is worth at least 7 million in my opinion. He's to versatile to be tagged any less than that. He can attack, he can defend [When he remembers which goal is which].

NO WAY we get Se7en for Riise, he was TERRIBLE last year and not that hot the year before and getting on with age. I would hope for 4 and half

Use the cash on Villa or Silva  :p .

J/k, I'm not to sure on either of them.  But Torres should finesse his way in convincing Villa to play for Liverpool.  It will be good for the country, w/e he has to say  :D

Villa value Barry as 20 million pounds worth? If we pay that, I'll be f*cked off. If it were United jumping in with 15 million, the c*nt would be in for a medical already. F*ck Villa and Barry. They can stuff their 20 million estimation. I'd rather we use 20 million plus whatever we get for player to buy a world class player like Villa. That would do me, thank you very much.

totally agree mate! as much as barry may be a good player
he is no way a fecking great player who a club can demand
a fee of 20 million, the bid we have made (if that is factual)
then that is more than enough. for me he is not worth
anymore than 12 million end of. as for their great manager
he can feck off as far as i"m concerned,if a player doesn"t
want to play for the club anymore then let him go, take a
realistic offer for him & move on rather than try & force
a price war or hold out for more money cause in this day
& age that will just back fire on the club big time.
also tell villa they can have carson as a good will gesture
as long as they stop fecking about & try stop kidding themselves barry is a top money bracket player!
if o"neil rates carson so highly why doesn"t he want to make his move permenant, i"l tell you why cause he"s trying to take
the :censored: with his stupid valuation of barry,& hope he stays.
as i have always said if a player makes it known he wants
out of a club it"s for a reason, if that cannot be resolved
by the manager, then he should want to get rid of the
player as soon as possible. barry"s price tag is a joke
so is the fecking manager who invented it!!

i think they mean that villa are looking at them as replacements for barry. i can comfortably predict that our midfield next season won't consist of downing, sidwell, huddlestone and milner.

MO'N was on MOTD banging on about how Barry finished the last England international wearing the captains armband and that justifies their (Villa's) valuation of the player.
I've never agreed that players are worth more just because they have an English birth certificate/passport and picked up the odd international cap.
We've seen players like Hargreaves and D.Bent sold for £18 and £10 million (respectively) just because they have worn an England shirt in recent years when in reality neither of them could hold a torch to foreign players that have come to the Premier league for a fraction of the price.
