Well i say fukk villa.....let them keep an overated barry......no way is he worth more than we might get for alonso....its time we called their bluff and pulled out of this hyped up transfer for a player that still has a lot to prove to justify villa's crazy valuation......lets look elsewhere, this is becoming a joke!.....go and fukk yourself o;neil. :buttrock

Ok so if we dont get Barry I take it Alonso is staying then? What if he asks now that he wants to go. And even then we are still backto where we were - a team whose title ambitions are usually over before xmas. :angry:

There's a lot of arrogance on this thread. Liverpool aren't above paying over the odds for players if it's what we have to do to improve.
Look at what utd paid for Carrick and Hargreaves, it has to be done sometimes.

as much as I like Barry and think that he would provide improvement over Xabi (not that Barry is a better player but that he's more suitable for the premiership than Xabi is IMO) I do not think that we should in any way pay more than 15 million for him... that is just silly.... if Aston Villa doesn't except 15 million than like others said they can just :censored:

right off... if Barry really wants to join us let him pressure them... 15 million is the max we should be paying for him...

When did he say us? I read he said Arsenal but didnt hear our name in there.

Anyway why dont we just buy Aimar and Milner and then we are sorted.

i think he said something like his preference would be arsenal and added that he admires rafa as well... couldn't remember exactly but he did mention us... then again it can just be the journos twisting it all...

anyway guys... the part about the new bid being 15 million and that o'neil wanted 20 million is just an assumption by the media... we should calm down and not take it too seriously...

15mil IMO is way to much for Barry. 10mil and maybe Carson or JAR should be sufficient.

On another note, Barry, who has been at Villa for 10 years may stay put. If he does, it'll be a bit like Le Tissier who had been at Southampton for most (if not all) of his playing career. Southampton IMO is a mid to lower table team. Le Tissier could have done so much more if he had moved........ anyway maybe a similar fate for Barry!!! what do you think?
