This is really winding me up for the following reasons.

1. He is worth 10 million tops.

2. I dont want Alonso to leave anyway.

3. MON is really p!ssing me off.

4. Walk away Rafa.

Now is the time to wise the :censored: up Rafa.

Good player or not, Villa are trying to make mugs of us here.

Take a step back, watch Barry get :censored: off with O'Neill and Villa because he had his heart set on the move, and see what happens.

Agree Lynds.

There comes a time when you should walk away and look elsewhere. Fifteen million would buy us a more than adequate alternative.

Or here's a thought. Keep Alonso and spend the money on a decent winger. Hardly rocket science.

And we already have a ready made one if Rafa wants Barry as another central midfielder.... At 12 million he's worth it but beyond that? WTF for? If Barry is being pursued to play out on the left then surely we jest.... at 18 million, we should be getting players of the claibre of the Silvas of the footballing world.

Agree with you guys..... time to walk away.

The latest offer is reportedly in the region of £15million, but rumours claim Villa boss Martin O'Neill is holding out for a fee of £20million.

Given that Hargreaves and Carrick cost UTD in the region of £18million apiece I can see Villa holding out for that.

Personally I don't feel comfortable bidding even £15million for Barry, if we are talking about spending £15m+ on a player I would prefer to keep Alonso and sign a top class winger.

It should never have got to this stage, I and plenty of others knew it would be a 'hike up the price' sheisterism by O'Squeall, whether because he's peaced at Rafa or because he really over-rates Barry I can't say.

This is getting a bit out of hand now. The player wants to come to us so if I was Rafa I would pull out now and let Barry start crying in the press.

Villa will have to move eventually.

Put the ball back in there court

Keeping Alonso (jibbing Villa off) and spending the money otherwise on areas of the pitch in which we are weakest in is the ideal. In my opinion that is exactly what the club should be doing. Ive said for a long time that Central Midfield is the least of our worries (so what Barry can operate on the left) if that is where Rafa sees him - why not keep Alonso anyway...unless there has been an incident we are not privy to of course; its daft in my eyes.

One issue though is...has Xabi already set his mind (not least to say, one foot) out the door already.

Like others have said - Let Barry stew in his own juices at Villa, enduring a fractured relationship with O'Neill in the process....and utilise the funds elsewhere. However, we MAY well end up with a very similar situation ourselves should Alonso not receive the transfer (he perhaps is hoping for)  ???  in that case no b.ugger benefits. No use to both sides of the argument.

Barry is good for 12-14 mill - tops. We are getting ar5e raped again, big time.
