Thats a bit late. But better late than never. I just hope he gels quickly with the rest of the lads. We need to hit the ground running this year.

Barry will be presented with the shirt number "0" on Friday.

When Jeff Shreeves asked why, Barry said "Because zero is also a number, knobhead"

Personally I think Villa have robbed us, but if Rafa feels that we need him, then he must have some kind of plan in mind. Maybe it will work out for the best. I wish Barry the best of luck at LFC if he joins.

Barry Deal To Face Another Hitch As Finnan Wont Leave Liverpool?
Submitted by Jake Briggs on Mon, 2008-08-04 13:42. Liverpool, Aston Villa Premiership Transfer News
In one of the longest transfer sagas of the summer. Gareth Barry’s protracted move from Aston Villa to Liverpool faces another hitch as Republic of Ireland International Steve Finnan is not prepared to make the switch to Villa Park as part of any deal, according to The Daily Star.

One of the proposed deals on offer was a cash plus right-back Finnan (left), but with the 32-year-old not willing to leave Anfield for the Midlands side, Reds boss Rafa Benitez will have to find the full £18million Aston Villa asking price for 27-year-old Barry.

Villa boss Martin O’Neill has admitted that England International Barry will move to Liverpool, despite having given his Liverpool counterpart Benitez a deadline which was missed for the transfer of the Villans captain last week
---------------------------------------------------

While I would be delighted if Finnan stays for another season, I am really becoming sick of this farce of a transfer deal. Every time it looks as if everything is finally settled something else crops up and the whole thing is thrown back into the air.

In the past Liverpool paid up for players - Kenny, Aldo, Wright, Collymore, Hamman, Cisse etc.... so yes we´re assembling an expensive TEAM but Chelsea and ManUre have spend a lot more on their SQUADS and our players cost no more than they have paid. Its as if we´ve both realised to have to pay up and hopefully found the cash to do so. The danger is if they dont work out you have to sell them for what they´re really worth which doesnt bear thinking about....

I'd rather pay full 18 million cash and keep finnan than the reported 17.5 + finnan or even 16.5 million + finnan. I'd rather have arbeloa and finnan competing for the RB slot than save 1.5 million which seems to be villa's valuation for finnan...

Yer i'd go with that, if Arby was to get injured we could end up short so unless the idea is to bring though Darby i'd keep Finnan.
