Is there any news on his transfer Igor or do you think its a dead deal now mate ?

Not sure mate , Shankslegend said today ,that rafa wants him end of story , he also suggested that the two yanks are willing to put there hands in there pockets . Can't see it myself ,to be honest mate ,i'd rather keep xabi and concentrate on getting some quality width.

I heard a while back that Rafa was to get a £20million transfer chest on the 26 of July. I couldn't believe those two clowns would put up the money either, so I presumed it was either b0llocks or maybe that we got our CL OR TV money this weekend?

I more or less agree mate, I think if its a break even deal it might just be worth doing, but as it looks like we are going to lose money on the two deals I think we should forget it, stick with Alonso and try to bring in Silva or someone like that.

I still think Rafa will pull a surprise out of the hat even if we sign Keane and Barry. I think he will bring in one more big name. I am hoping for a top creative player, but I hope for one of those every year  :D

David Silva maybe?

Van der Vaart is the one mate. I think he will be the surprise signing.

I thought aswell that he was going to sign for Real. It's cheap because next year he can leave for 1,5 million euros

I hope you are wrong mate, I know we have been interested in him for a while and I hoped that we would finally make our move.

I hope I am, but I doubt that Rafa would get him.

I have been following the rumours around Van der Vaart quite close recently (on Dutch sites) and from the moment his name was mentioned it was almost always connected with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and some time ago Chelsea, but they have Deco now. I think we WERE interested in him, but I don't know why our attention seems to have gone elsewhere since I haven't picked up ANY rumours for around two weeks that connect him with us but I would love him at Anfield. He's young, finds the goal very easily for his position and isn't expensive at all (especially when you compare it with Barry). The negative thing about him is that he isn't a winger and I was hoping Rafa's final surprise signing would be a winger.

After what Rafa said about fullbacks having to do the jobs of wingers, I can't see us going for a typical chalk on his boots winger. Which is why I was (wishful)thinking of Van der Vaart   :D

O neil is playing his cards right again trying to make up for wht he did by giving barry a chance to play the match , hoping that he does not hand in a transfer request which i am shocked he has not handed in by now  , so that he still can maximize and get as much as he wants for barry.

Vander vart going to madrid for 13 million? I thought he was not for sale and Jol said he wanted to keep him there for at least another season , if its that cheap than i'm usre we should rather go for him than barry , he's younger and also cheaper

Van der Vaart allegedly has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for a million or so next season, according to some reports anyway - which I fail to remember the sources of.

Having said this, Arshavin reportedly had a release fee clause of £10m in his contract, which was seemingly proven to be sh!te after Barca had a £12m bid rejected.

In summary, there is much sh!te about.

VDV looks like a quality player btw, would be happy to see us sign him.

I really can't see Rafa buying Silva after what he said recently about wingers, so I am hoping he gets us a surprise creative second striker and I think we will be there or there abouts. If we have to go with Kuyt or Babel playing most games I think we will struggle to sustain a challenge. I think we may need a new right back too if Arbeloa does leave and Degen is only as good as we have seen so far.

Do you really think that Babel would spend a large portion of next season on the bench?  We spent good amount of money on him and I don't think that Rafa's just going to use him as a sub.  This kid has to be played, just like Ronaldo was at United.  These type pf players need as much game time as possible to build up their game intelligence and to gain confidence.

Spurs "are believed to have revived their interest in Villa", but face competition from Real Madrid, who are considering a £32m move for Villa if they don't buy Christiano Ronaldo. Reported Liverpool target Rafael van der Vaart "has a clause in his contract allowing him to move for around £800,000 next summer".
