Has anyone seen him to well against top opposition. He really looks second rate to me.

Yep and the so called great Prem league has seen Marcus Stewart, James Beattie, Darren Bent, Andy Johnson etc score goals.

The Echo seems to be saying that any bid for Kuyt will depend on whether the Alves deal happens.  If it does, then, buying Kuyt will only be feasible if we sell some squad players to raise funds for that transfer fee.  As such, the Kuyt deal, if it happens at all, might not go forward until later in the summer.

Well, Welsh Wizzard is sure Alves is signing on Saturday with Aurelio so, whose talking more bollox, your mate or WW? :D

Actually, the two stories aren't incompatible.  Perhaps a deal for Kuyt could happen quickly if it involved Dudek and Kromkamp going the other way.  That would certainly solve some of the financial complications of offloading squad players and then using proceeds to secure the Kuyt transfer.  Who knows!  ???  :D

Doubt it is tbh, Rafa would much oike to bring in a Rw first and then move for a striker if money is available.

According to the dutch Telegraph its saying he will sign for us today or tommorrow, there was more fuel put on the fire yesterday when he didnt show up for the team photo for this season.
And he will only leave Feyenoord for CL football.
Could get interesting the next few days  .
If Feyenoord wont accept our bid then Rafa will look to taking  Trezeguet on loan.

18-07-2006 - Liverpool wil vandaag of morgen Kuyt presenteren als aankoop
Bron: Telegraaf

We have to judge him on the world cup. He could have signed for us before the WC, but decided to try and leave it till after the WC so if he did well he could ask for higher wages. That has more than backfired to me. I thought he was awful. The standard of the teams they played (Argentina, Portugal, Ivory Coast) was better than the dutch league and i don't think he played well against any of them. There is a big chance he wouldn't cut it in the Prem.

I have also read that Kuyt apparently has an escape clause in his contract of £10.3m.

That bit about the escape clause makes me question the credibility of the story. If there was an escape clause, LFC would know because Benitez has been talking with Kuyt's agent for over 12 months. I think the agent may just have mentioned a little thing like that, don't you? The rest of the article seems plausible enough, but time will tell.

i really hope we dont sign him and waste what money we have available. his world cup performances were very very poor for all to see. shows that when he comes up against decent opposition he cant hack it.

IF we do sign him then i hope im proved wrong and made to look stupid, i just hope we dont sign him in the first place.

by that token, lets get rid of gerrard. he had a poor world cup which proves he can't hack it against the very best? ???

get a grip. you can't judge a player on a handful of world cup performances, when he was played out of position the majority of the time.

He was played out of position in a few games. My problem with him is he goes down far too easily. A small tug on his shirt or arm and a little barge and he's flying onto the floor. I have listened to the ppl who have watched Kuyt and he has got mixed responses from different ppl, so I will try and watch some past matches of his to see if he is any good. But as you say he didn't play well at all in the World Cup, but then neither did Ronaldinho or Gerrard doesn't mean to say they are shockingly poor players. World Cup's can make a player of Titus Brambles quality look world beaters.
