i wonder why rafa din give heskey a chance.....it seems that heskey is the type of player that rafa prefers....

we gotta be realistic

yeah i want eto, villa, tevez or thiery henry aswell

but i just cant see us paying 30 million for one player......

i reckon rafa has around 40-50 million to spend and he needs 3 or 4 players

v all want a big name. even i. i want someone who iz in the same league as eto or tevez but if rafa has a limited budget and needs to buy more then 1 player then i guess we just have to trust hiz moves cause im sure he vuld buy 'e players who vuld fit into hiz style of play. nobody thot crouch vuld be 'e top scorer.

Back on topic…

I don't mind Bent, and although he's not in the same league as Eto'o and Tevez, we may be priced out of signing them. If we bought Bent and Owen for £20m, I wouldn't complain.

There's a bit of snobbery on here towards Bent - go and look at his scoring stats for the past 3 seasons in a Charlton shirt. They're impressive. He's got pace, he's a penalty taker (we're not overburdened with those) and he's English, and that's no bad thing.

Also, the idea that Bent is being mentioned now as a symptom of how our targets are dropping in price and standard is off the mark. Bent has been linked to us for a long time, way before Hicks and Gillett came along. Rafa obviously sees something in him he likes, and if he goes for him we shouldn't get hacked off cos he's only a £12m price and not £30m.

Just as there's a fair argument that English players are overpriced there's an equally fair one that English strikers are underrated. Dean Ashton for one…

My biggest worries is
1. that Charlton was relegated with him playing the whole season. not just his fault I know but still.
2. I'm convinced his price tag is much closer to 15m than 10m.
3. hard to see if a div. 2 player will upgrade our team that much and worth such a price tag.
