I think we should just draw a line under this saga and move on!

Unless Alves can put pressure on Sevilla I think the deals dead.  Sevilla have said negotiations ended monday with the two sides still 15% apart on valuation of Alves.skysports link

BBC are also carrying the story that Alves negotiations stopped on Monday...

Liverpool's bid to sign Sevilla full-back Daniel Alves has stalled, according to the Spanish club.
The Reds have formally tabled two bids for the 23-year-old but have yet to meet the asking price of around £12m.

Alves is keen to move to Liverpool, but Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido said he wants the Brazilian to stay.

"We're 15% away from reaching agreement in terms of what we want and what they are offering. Negotiations halted on Monday. This makes me happy," he said.

Del Nido admitted that he had not convinced Alves that his future lay with Sevilla.

But he added: "Sevilla doesn't want Alves to leave the club.

"It is the player's desire to leave and the tempting deal they (Liverpool) have offered him has been the reason why we have had to sit down and negotiate."

Brazilian Alves has been at Sevilla for four years now and impressed during their Uefa Cup success in 2006, most notably in the 4-0 demolition of Middlesbrough in the final.

Have to say the longer this drags on the less optimistic I am that a deal will materialise.  Sevilla are being a lot more stubborn than I expected them to to be and holding out for 12 million is just fecking greedy - no way we're paying that.  Time for the player to help us out here if he really wants to join us and come out and say he won't play for Sevilla again or something along those lines, so far he's been very quiet and we've only heard bits and pieces from his agent.  If Sevilla know the player is completely pi.ssed off that the move has been blocked, then they might sell him rather than keep an unhappy player who they won't get the best out of.  I think Alves' relative silence on the issue thus far is better for Sevilla than for us.

perhaps we could wait to see what happens in the Italian trial before making our next move for a player?

Alves isnt going to Liverpool.  I dont blame Seville as they have a player under contract who they dont wanna sell.  If the club is in a position where they do not need to sell then why should they accept our bid.  They are just like any other club in the fact they have to replace players they sell and are only doing what they feel is best for the club.  Also I think it would be a bit unfair if the player told the club he wont be playing for them.  His under contract and if a player of ours did something like that we would all condemn it.

Good point S@int, problem is we need to get something in place soon as a transfer for a decent player will take approx 2 weeks to negotiate, I think that the italian case will be close in the next week or so which would give us enough time to strike a deal.

Who do you think we should go for from Juve?  ???

WELL NOW YOU KNOW ALVES WANTS THIS DEAL, MORE IMPORTANT HE DOESN,T WANT TO STAY WITH SEVILLA, IVE ALLWAYS SAID ALVES CAN CONTROL THIS DEAL...I KNOW WHAT SEVILLA ARE ALL ABOUT   THEY WANT A BIDDING WAR FOR THE PLAYER,  BUT HE WANTS TO JOIN US, THAT PUTS US IN A GOOD POSITION, THERE MIGHT BE A BIT OF BLOOD SPILT BEFORE THIS DEAL GOES THROUGH...ITS GETTING TO THE STAGE WHERE ALVES MIGHT HAVE TO PUT IN A TRANSFER REQUEST.

I think he has to if he really wants to join us as much as he says he does.

Too many players have come and said they want to join us but haven't really for one reason or another.

I want alves to join more than most, im desperate for this deal to be done so we dont have to resort to someone like pennant but i have my doubts about it now. Yeah i know he will have to rock the boat if he wants to join liverpool but you never know how much he really wants to join us, is he really willing to go against sevillas wishes and demand to leave for liverpool? Im not sure if he would go that far to come here, hope so
