Not sure about the Abramovich conspiracy theory, but they're two cracking players and all of a sudden West Ham look pretty formidable. With those two now on their books, I think we've done well to get one of our fixtures against them already out of the way. I can see our major Prem rivals having problems against them.

Was thinking the same thing myself, mate.  One win on the books against the Hammers is not only a great start to our season but also a beautiful bit of timing in light of these loans!

As for the Mancs and their woeful summer of transfer dealings, all I can do is  :D !

The interesting thing will be whether or not Tevez and Mascherano play against Chelsea this year.

If they didn't then West Ham would be severely weakend for that match and therefore making it an easier match for Chelsea, but if they did play, they would effectively playing against their current employer (assuming that Abramovich is part of the consortium that holds their contracts of course).

As far as I'm concerned, this is a way of getting around the rule that you can't play against your current team.

I wonder what odds I'd get on Tevez missing a penalty if it meant that the Hammers would get some points against Chelsea?

They've not been signed on loan but on PERMANENT deals according to SSN who say that's from an official WHU statement.

Now that is a FOOKING coup not just of the summer but of the year. :wwww

There's something dodgy there, how can a club that was in so much debt two years ago and have only spent one season in the top flight since getting promotion afford two players that cost around £20million a piece? The whole things stinks to be honest.

even if they pay them each 100k a week, in a year they could sell them for 40-50 million. this is very very very odd.

two of the best players in the world, at west ham ???

West Ham have pulled off a major coup by signing Argentina World Cup stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.
Striker Tevez, 22, and midfielder Mascherano, 22, join the Hammers from Brazilian side Corinthians on permanent deals for undisclosed fees.

The pair have been linked with moves to Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

But the Hammers are thought to have struck a deal with Media Sports Investments, who own the rights to the two players.

MSI were linked with a takeover of West Ham last season but eventually pulled out.

The club said: "West Ham United are delighted to announce the double signing of Argentinian World Cup stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano from Brazilian club Corinthians.

"The pair have been signed for an undisclosed fee and put pen-to-paper on permanent contracts with the club this afternoon. All other aspects of the transfers will remain confidential and undisclosed.

"The transfers represent a massive coup for the Hammers, who have beaten off some of Europe's biggest clubs to secure the services of the duo."

Both Tevez and Mascherano returned to Argentina's squad for Sunday's friendly against Brazil at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium after signings their deals.

This is fcked up. Permanent. That would be about £30 million at least.  They need to tell us how long the contracts are and the fees involved.

Who would sign for West Ham when they have Chelsea, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Man Utd after them? There is no logic to these transfers. How on earth did West Ham get this money to afford these players? When they got relegated in the first place and they had to sell all their best players and what's more laughable is the fact that West Ham fans think they can beat anyone on their day because of the FA Cup final draw, WTF, they had the help of Liverpool mistakes.

Very strange but I think it's brilliant--good for West Ham and good for the League, TBH.  The Hammers are certainly going to shock some teams this year and may just do us plenty of favours.  Again, so glad we've already played them! :)

What's more baffling is why their club aren't incharge of these players, I've not heard of players being owned by companies either.  ???

It's a great coup for West Ham, but I'm shell shocked. Oh well there's only decent fans club left and you're on the board.  :;):
