The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby bigmick » Wed May 24, 2006 4:50 pm

This is the bit where I put up my Robert Earnshaws (still haven't given up on him scoring lots of goals in the Prem for somebody) and Damien Francis's (least said the better) for next season. I don't get to see many games at all these days and when I do it's almost always within easy travelling distance of where I live in South-West London but I have seen most of these guys LIVE a couple of tmes and reckon one or two might make players.

Phil Jagielka. Whether or not sheffield United stay up, which I think they won't FWIW this fella will stay in the Premiership in my opinion. Has been the best player in the Championship, including the much vaunted Steve Sidwell for a couple of seasons in my view.

Marlon King. Top scorer in the Championship last season and will give many a defender a headache this. Quick and lively with a team behind him who play to his strengths, one or two who are bidding huge money for Johnson could do worse than look at the Watford man.

Emmerson Boyce. Palace right-back who makes up for technical deficiencies with athleticism and enthusiasm. Think a latter day Viv Anderson and you're not far off.

Ashley Young. Another from Watford, the wide midfielder and dead ball specialist could be the best of the lot. Got almost a Chrissie Waddle gait about him when he walks but the kid can play a bit and does hit a lovely dead-ball.

Curtis Davies. Along with Pennant and Zoltan Gera probably one of the best players to get relegated from the Prem this season. My own feeling is that the young West Brom man is a top centre-half in the making, with pace and power to back up his undoubted enthusiasm and leadership qualities. Could go on to become a very good player indeed.

So there you go, Micky's tips. It's probably not the right place to put it on reflection, it should have gone in general discussion but I don't know how to change forums. Maybe one of the mods will flick it over. What do you guys think? Seen any future superstars while bored sh!teless and reduced to watching the SKY game live on a friday night?

west brom turned down a £3.5m bid from spurs for curtis davies today as it happens. he looks like a player i have to say.

i was really impressed with watford full stop. i think they'll pull down a few trees next season. same for reading, who had the best player by miles in the championship in sidwell last year. also look out for kevin doyle, who they signed for about £20,000 from cork. he'll surprise a few in the same way marlon harewood has this year.
