Hutchinson was a Daglish signing and wasn't a huge member of the first team when Souness was there, mostly getting picked when others were injured (which was a lot).

Souness inherited a team in decline, but he attempted to change things too quickly.

Also, most if not all the players he bought had excellent seasons with their previous clubs but bombed the minute they stepped on Merseyside.

what was so funny about the report was that he entered the room and emerged 5 minutes later, how quick is he?   :D

Moving back to Souness... :p

I have to say that my jaw's locked it dropped so far.

Terrible, terrible appointment by Newcastle. To his credit, Souness is an honest man, but the last thing their dressing room needs is someone that's going to put half the squad's noses out of joint by telling them exactly what he thinks of them.

Do they really think he's going to do a better job than Robson would've for the rest of the season? There's nothing in his managerial record that suggests to me anything other than this being an absolute disaster for them. I'd hate to be a Newcastle fan this afternoon.

And there's me thinking Newcastle might make a decent appointment to follow in Bobby's footsteps! :D

Souness was one of the best players we ever had. If only for that I wish him well.
:)

ps. How come Newcastle didn't go for Stu the Red ? :D

i know souness was part of the downfall at LFC but lets not forget we were on a downward spiral before him with some of the signings made, and i cant forgive him for writing in the s*n. but lets not forget the guy was at a cup final for us a week after his heart surgery. also he was a fantastic player for us. we struggled when he first left us, we had a ****** start to the next season.

anyway i bet dyer is sh*itting himself in case he gets a tackle like yorke did in training

Not sure if i agree with that one peewee? If my memory serves me correct didnt he inherit a side who were top of the league that season or at least were when Kenny left the position? It only neeeded a little tweaking here and there but Souness did the damage by trying to do too much at once and failed miserably in the transfer market.

Kenny also made a cr*p signing in Jimmy Carter. :D  I'll never understand why Souness sold Beardsley at all. We also lost Houghton after one season of service before he went to Villa. He only made one really world class signing which was Rob Jones. Plus what was selling Saunders from Liverpool to Villa all about when he signs him again for Galatasary? ???
