Owen to man u on a free - Have we missed a trick?

The Premiership - General Discussion

i suppose there are two groups here

one that admires the boys obvious talent

and those who dislike him since he left

if it were down to footballing then we should sign him on a free, but if its down to cut your nose off to spite your face, then dont sign him

take your pick

It would be mad if he didn't spend the most part of his time on the treatment table.

Also it would be mad to pay 40-50 grand a week on a player who is injury prone. We have been there before with Harry Kewell and it wasn't good business finacially or performance wise.

Lakes you are right, he is a talent and would undoubtedly grad the odd goal or two but LFC is no place for footballing mercenaries especially ones who have betrayed the club in the past.

If what his agent said is true, I for one am over the moon the enquiry was rebuffed by Rafa. Owen plays for Owen, the shirt he wears is incidental.

Do you not want players who feel it actually means something to wear the famous red shirt of Liverpool?

donr get me started on players that it dont mean anything to wear the Liverpool shirt, i could pick a load of our players  for that one.

Players have left our club before and come back, the problem with him was it was down to asking us for too much money, in truth he was just asking for the same as other big players were asking, our club still pays some of our player low if you look at what other teams pay.

Owen will feel like he's won the lottery at the moment, he will probably in the next few years win a league title winners medal that has eluded him for his whole life - can't fault the lad.

however, he left on bad terms and upset a lot of his fans, so fuk him.

With the way he exited LFC, it only shown how selfish he was. He really put Rafa in a difficult situation then. So, don't expect Rafa to bail him out in this situation. I'm absolutely behind Rafa's decision not to sign him. Now that he is signing for Manu U only proves this guy is desperate. I was very upset with the way he left LFC hanged during his exit. I;m sure he will get booed when they come to Anfield.

When others were calling for Rafa to get him back I disagreed.  I don’t give a damn if he signs for that lot.  If anything its laughable.  Cant get Benzema, cant get Ribery so they go for the washed up ex Liverpool player.

What a :censored: but they deserve each other. One misstake you can forgive "leaving for Madrid" screwing us the second time "leaving for Newcastle" is far from ok but doing it a third time is unheard of. If I see him on the street I'll slap that little rat. HE IS DEAD.

What?

Like most players don't?

You're deluding yourself if you think there's any real "club love" going on with the vast majority of players in the game these days.

Either way, I'm not bothered with Owen going to Man Utd. If what his agent said was true and he did get blown off by Liverpool, then it's a decent move on behalf of Owen and the Mancs. He's back in the Prem and whiskey nose has a backup willing to be a bench warmer for most of the season.

I doubt he'll light up Old Trafford anyway. He's well passed his sell by date, afaic.

I hear what you're saying Lakes but there is one small flaw in your argument. The players who's disputed loyalties you are refering to were not a product of Liverpool FC. They were players draughted in and as such it is unlikely you will ever receive the same level of loyalty as a player who has learned his trade with us. There was an improved offer in line with the highest payed players at the club on the table 18 months before he left for Madrid but instead he ran his contract down and forced us to sell him for a fraction of hs real value.

I think we will agree to differ on this one but personally I feel in an era where Player loyalty is hard to come by Owen has sunk to new lows. just as any barcode fan. The sooner he progresses to his real desired occupation of race horse trainer the better.

Michael is plain greedy and has no integrity, he's basically selling his soul to the devil (no pun), even past players like Cisse said they would never join Uniter or Everton because they have a past at Anfield, Owen is 'suppose' to be a Liverpool legend  :no
