"Doing An Owen" should be adopted as a term for making a disasterous career decision.

Owens looking in good nick . He's worked hard on his frame and fitness, he's put on a stone in weight and it's all muscle . He's looking like a pocket version of Shearer . Provided he's stays clear of injury I think were going to see Owen back to and maybe even surpassing his very best .

Would love to see him back with us BUT his susceptibility to injury would always be a worry .

What we do folks is see how he does in the rest of this season, preseason and a few weeks into next season and if he's fit we pounce just before the transfer window closes. He will surely be played in the intototalcrap cup that the barcodes are bound to enter again before finding out they aren't good enough to play in Europe. If he remains uninjured between now and mid-August surely that's worth the risk? 16 goals in 29 games in his last Premiership season for us

We should offer Newcastle a deal where we get Michael Owen back in exchange for one of our old "Division One" championship trophies from the trophy rooms. Both sides benefit. We get a good striker and they get something shiny and silver.
