The funny thing is, part of me knows we are getting stale and we need a change. Against the bigger teams we can pull off a result but against the smaller teams we cannot? that's fault in management.
And Rafa buys and sells too often, but in Keanes case I think he was saving whatever money he could. Ratehr lose 1mill now than 11 mill in the summer.
Through all these faults though I still maintain that Rafa is the one to lead us to premiership glory, no matter how blind that may make me seem, just my preference so I won't say I hope we get all the ex Chelsea managers as I think the guy that we have is better.
Nobodies salivating over maureen Daws. He ISN'T going to ever be our manager, so salivating is pointless. Similarly, I can't imagine anyone salivating over Avram Grant in any capacity. I merely started a thread on Maureen to ask whether he was any good as he got left out of GYBS's poll. Needless to say, he got slagged off by all and sundry, but when I actually properly looked at his record it is fantastic.
I refer to him now occasionally, to dispel this ridiculous notion that we are in the presence of greatness with our current manager. Fine if people like you want him to continue and think he will get us there, he may do that yet and everyone can have their day in the sun, but when I keep reading about what a genius he is, the messiah, the new Shankly and all that tripe I can't resist referring to a manager who genuinely is successful, properly so wherever he's gone. No salivating though, I just use it as a counterpoint to the "well it took fergie 7 years" nonsense. It did, and it took Wenger and Mourinho 1.
As for Avram Grant, he's my counter to the equally ridiculous "but there's nobody else" argument. What, nobody else could win no trophies and get nowhere near winning the league while spunking money left right and centre on transfers? Is there really nobody else in the World that could do that? This is where Avram grant comes in. Nobody had heard of him till he was given the riegns at Chelsea last season. They almost tied for the league, and came within a penalty kick of winning the Champions League. In the transfer market, he bought Nicolas annelka for 14 million quid, which makes Keane look like a top buy at 20 mill doesn't it?
And you'll have to run this "we only lost 1 million on Keane" by me again, because as much as I've tried I don't get it. If we paid 20, and they're paying 12-15, how have we only lost 1 million?
We only paid 11mill, the rest of the installment was due in the summer... which is why i believe we had to sell now to avoid massive losses in the summer...
