It may of been a bit cowardly but its instinct at times to stick up for a mate.
The fact that they are supposedly professionals and have to set an example means that they will probably get charged.
But i would of done the same if i am honest.

Nah mate.  Only cowards stick the boot in when someone's on the ground.

If after the boy swung for Lampard, Terry/Drgba or whoever smacked the guy I'd say fair enough it's a natural reaction, but they'd still get fined and rightly so.

What you don't do is crowd around the guy after the stewards have taken him to the ground and sink a few sly boots in.  I can't imagine that's any normal person's natural reaction to the situation.

Depends how offended you are at some stranger taking offence at you for being party to his team losing.

That fan who run on the pitch deserved everything he got.

He did'nt deserve to be kicked on the ground when he could not defend himself...that's just cowardly!
He should not have run on to the pitch though but being honest i would'nt mind a slap at Lampard myself!  :D

Lads i see what you are saying but i wouldnt be thinking rationally if some n@b had tried to crack my mate for f'ck all,
He would get a smack if he was on his feet, or a kick if he was on the floor.
That would be my reaction to someone trying to hurt a mate.

I dont mind being a coward in that instance, the c'nt wont go for me mate again.

some of you seem to be missing the point, we are not talking about a scrap in the alehouse, we are talking about pro footballers whose actions could have made the situation much worse.

cowards, its all very well being tough when you have the police there to protect you.

now can someone tell me the difference between cantona kicking a guy and cashley and drogba kicking they guy (apart from the fact he had encroached on the pitch)

in fact the force they used was not needed and not reasonable as the guy was already subdued, the guy should also make a police report

Different times, different places. In Birkenhead you go down, your getting volleyed. Make no mistake. Its vital to stay on your feet no matter what.

I agree with Peewee, but its different in a bar, if a lad walked up to my mate and started swinging, he would be getting whacked and I can't imagine anyone would not act in the same manner.

I think the Cantana thing was totally different.  Cantana had a couple of names shouted at him and jumnped into the crowd to kick the idiot.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Difference is mate, in a bar room brawl you don't have the luxury of a couple of stewards dragging your opponent to the ground.  Maybe you get that in Birkenhead, I don't know

Bunch of cowards.

Surely they must face disciplinary action?

The bloke shouldn't have done it, but kicking someone while they are down is worse than trying to tonk someone in the face.

They would be charged with assault in the street, and if that bloke faces any criminal charges, so should those feckers.

Sh*tski are not above the law.
