1225 BST: Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he will be the one making decisions about the Real Madrid first team and not president Florentino Perez should he leave Inter Milan and take over from Manuel Pellegrini as coach of the Spanish side. "The president is not the one who wins, he's not the one who plays and nor does he decide who is in the team and who is on the bench," said Mourinho in Spanish newspaper Marca. (Reuters)

that was the answer he gavw when he was asked about the presidents influence at madris should he become manager.

the press have a great way of spinning things - just look in the gerrard thread....

headline: "Gerrard to ponder reds future"

quote: "Gerrard said in the Daily Star Sunday: "I won't consider my future or think about what is going to happen to me until after the World Cup.

"After the World Cup you have three or four weeks of holiday to consider what the next best move will be for you."

Doesnt sound like a player committed to their club does it? - the media can take quotes anyway they want for a story

Are people seriously suggesting sneider for 13m and Lucio for 5m and selling the usless Ibrahamovic for 40m is the sign of a  manager who needs more money than his rivals?

Porto won it with him FFS.

There isn't a club in the worlld that wouldn't sack their manager in the morning for Jose.

I think he is an all time great.

Are you terminally clueless?

You have failed to put forward your argument. It is simple to just insult somebody, a bit harder to put forward a convincing argument.

When one takes time to make a post only for a known numpty to come along and in their reply ignore the entire thrust of the argument, it is very frustrating.

This is Mourinho we are discussing isn't it  ???
Mourinho doesnt require the press to put any spin on things because his ramblings are forever  sodden with controversy ,he is and will always remain a media whore .... which is a genuine pity because if I am honest if the man focused mainly on his managerial qualities (which are considerable )then he would be spoken of in the same revered tones of the very best .......
Sad really that he craves so much attention

so how would you like it if G&H took control of matters the way Perez does at RM RBG? ???
it seems to be one rule of rafa and another for Jose.
the latter being the more confident, outspoken and definitely better manager by miles.

Maureen's better than Rafa, probably. Maureen's become a superstar manager, one that will eventually pay for himself, like Beckham. His reputation means that people will follow whatever club he goes to right now. I believe now that Mourinho is a pointless discussion point. He will never be LFC manager because:

1 - we dont have shitloads of money for him
2 - we aren't already fighting for the title
3 - it would take time to build a team on a limited budget
4 - he isn't committed

So I've come to the conclusion that I dont know what Maureen fanboys are actually arguing over, he ain't ever gonna be our manager and may well be better than Rafa but, whats your point?
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I think you are missing the point Max ,I highlighted what Mourinho had apparently stated because it is very rare for a manager to slate the Owners before the ink is dry on his contract ...

I also think we will have to disagree in regards to who is actually the best manager ,you see I consider all points when distinguishing a managers assets ,those being the admirable traits I personally find befitting a Liverpool manager  like loyalty for instance ,Humility another one ... not being prone to ridiculous posturing there's  another .....so  that concludes my assessment of the two managers

Finally I would like to add Rafa has repeatedly turned down the advances of Real Madrid ,Juventus ,and the last one supposedly being Inter because Mr Mourinho has jumped ship .......

I wonder where we would be if Mourinho was our manager and he too had to endure the turmoil  behind the scenes and dealing with our odious owners .... Looking for a new manager is my guess ???

Mourinho wants to be adored plain and simple, football teams and trophies are just a necessary evil along the road to stardom for this little princess ..... but like I have said I do give credence to his managerial abilities they are without question valid but a moot point ....but in this debate rather like extolling the virtues of a serial killer simply because he was efficient  ???

Other than Lando (et al) nobody really believes he isn't one of the very best around. But that's why it was started, to prove a point, among others, to Lando. Unsurprisingly that entailed the defence of everything about Mourinho - from his record to his character, and that's how it persists for half of those who post in here; an absolute defence of Mourinho. It's ever so slightly strange on a Liverpool forum of all places (I'm not aware of any others that have a personal shrine to Mourinho) but there you go.

Well it seems there is quite an obsession around here with Mourinho; not just with the people advocating him as an ideal candidate for the job either.
