of course we all want the league but the thing with this idiot is, he wouldn't win it for liverpool fans, he'd win it for himself.

can't believe anyone would want that tw@t near our club.

as last night's salutes proved, mourinho has absolutely no feelings for or connection with the fans

:Oo:

yeah, that was ALL for the fans, not the publicity or his own ego

you just have to look at the media reaction over here today. it's all about jose. nothing about his players at all iun terms of their individual displays, just maureen. did exactly the same at porto after they won it. picked up his medal and then walked straight down the tunnel in an attempt to steal the limelight.

you also have to compare the coverage this "tactical genius" gets from the media over here compared to what rafa got when we went over there and beat them emphatically a few years back. laughable. people whinge about rafa being negative but blow me, the cyncicism and negativity that maureen brings to his sides is ridiculous by anyone's standards.

Sabre, is there any truth to the claims Mourinho was making about fireworks being set off outside their hotel in Barca all night prior to the match, the police slow to arrive, other police harassing Eto'o etc.?  If any of that happened, I'd be in the mood to give it large myself after going through despite going down to 10 men on a blatant dive. :nod

the spanish press that i have seen are saying that he is the king of camp nou and that the big winner of the match is josé mourinho.

this is obviously going to be the journalists take on things - they want a story and mourinho gives them a story. however, if you read the comments sections in the spanish and english online press you see that the majority of people that saw the game are praising the players more than the manager.

i don't get the hatred for mourinho myself. sure he has an ego, is an exhibitionist, and plays to the media. but he loves his players and his players love him. he loves the fans and the fans love him. and he wins stuff.

The refereee though De Bleecker (and his officials) were a  mess. I think we've had him before as well...any gripes about his performance?

The standard overall has dropped this year imo.

.. fellow posters seem to have forgotten the slurs against our manager, capatian and club in those early heady days, when Abramhovic was in his pocket -

Oh and why did Abramhovic get rid of him,and Inter have been considering getting rid of him.. ? cos he does nothing for the populairty of their clubs - people hate himn and his teams, and CFC's strategy to dominate the 'world' could not be achieved with a man who pisses more ppl off ..

I accept that Rafa may be going - so lets go for Hiddink, selling-out twice to the devil -surely we are not that desperate?

My take on the Spanish press context:

And they want Pellegrini out from months ago, and they want Mourinho in, months ago.

That, and the fact Mourinho has avoided a final in the Santiago Bernabeu with Barcelona, probably their worst nightmare, explains the Marca headlines of today.

Yes it seems it's true, and I guess you also saw how the irrigation system started to work after the match. Embarrassing.

In Barcelona they are OK if you tell'em they play great, but they never, I mean never, were good losers.

They don't admit that Inter played the better football. They are wrong when they think that good football means to pass the ball around necessarily: that's only good football if it actually works. And they're charging against Mourinho.

See, that there is the side of Barcelona that I don't like.  They ooze talent on their day but they can be petty and classless when it doesn't go their way.  To me, the match was a testament to defensive resilience on Inter's part but not much else.  Barcelona were ponderous in their play for 80 minutes and far, far, far too narrow.  Alves was shocking--every cross was one of those loopers that gave teammates no chance and he rarely tried to beat his man.  I know Barca aren't known for getting to the byline and putting in crosses but, with Inter packed in so well in the middle of the park, that was their best hope of getting something going offensively.

As for the gamesmanship, both sides were guilty of it and it was not an edifying sight.  Busquets was a disgrace yesterday and deserved to be on the team going out of the compo for that display alone.  On the other side, the timewasting and injury pantomiming by the Inter players was over the top.  Then you have Jose's 'pitch invasion' at the end, coupled with Barca turning the sprinklers on.  All and all, not a fine display of sportsmanship.  With that said, I guess we've come to expect that at this stage of the CL.  At least we didn't have a Drogba swearfest or a centre circle fracas followed by a Benny Hill chase sequence this year!  :D

So, in sum: well done Inter.  Now, go Bayern!  :nod

Would the Madrid fans accept his style of football though?

Capello won the League there and got hounded out after one season for the style of play not being good enough.

Exactly, you're right about the idea you have about a Real Madrid.

Right now they would accept probably ANYTHING that could stop the (until now) success of Barcelona, but you could expect exactly that kind of moan if the game of Real Madrid is not too beautiful to watch.

Bad Bob: I saw the same game that you describe, I  agree, and I don't enjoy admitting  Inter gave a master lesson of how to defend to Barcelona, and Barcelona never knew to counter that.

I also hope Bayern win, because I don't like Mourinho, and because history was a bit harsh with Munchen team in that year that they lost against whiskey nose.

I hope Inter win it for two reasons. Firstly, they deserve to after knocking out the reigning Champions and the probable English Champions this season along the way, after having come through a very tough group.

Secondly I hope they win it because I think it's funny. It's funny when Mourinho gets up to his tricks and it winds everyone up on here, and it's funny watching those that were palpably wrong about him wriggle and writhe as they desperately try and avoid admitting as much . It would be funny to see how those who said "he only wins anything when he's got sh!tloads of money to spend" manage to talk their way out of this one (I know he did it at Porto as well but don't let that worry you, they don't either). It'll be funny when they claim Inter were lucky (completely unlike us in Istanbul obviously), and it'll be funny when they claim that they're boring and defensive (once again nothing like us of course).

I'll want Inter to win it, no mistake.

So... you're not a fan of actual football...

If you think Inter deserve it for playing the best football, you are having a giggle mate
