I hate to say this: ar#e nal to be the champ

The Premiership - General Discussion

It's minute 60s in the second half when Middlesborough led 3-2. Less than ten minutes ago it was still 3-1 for Boro before Bergkamp made a solo run and slotted the ball into the net. I thought it's gonna Boro who would prevent Arsenal to create the new record. And it would be so special since the march was undertaken in Highburry. I thought Boro would be the one who would extinguish the growing up fire where the Champion on. I put off my urgent work just to witness the moment. I have never supported Boro before in my life.

Then coming up Pires, a player I had admired before he went for Arsenal and ever wished to be in Carlsberg Jersey. Henry came toward him holding his hand for some seconds conveying message in confident "feed me, we're gonna work this out".

It didn't take too long for Arsenal to prove that they are still the Champion. Henry made a solo run feeding Reyes who sent the ball to Pires before ripping the opposition's net. 3-3!

After that, i think everybody could predict what the end's gonna look like.

It is "still" 5-3 for Arsenal by the time I am sending this thread.

Henry WILL defo make a difference, if he's injured, the story of course might be different. However, the unavailability of Henry won't change Arsenal into Bolton. Remember that Henry also experienced injury in the previous season. The real different story may only happen if player alikes of Henry, Pires, Vieira, Reyes, Campbell, is injured and Wenger has a heart attack.

The fact that the team being the last Epl champion with 42 times unbeaten record is surely not the work of Henry alone. The players works in the team like your heads, hands, feet and every other part of your body works together. C'mon, be more realistic. and stop being too naive.

We all don't want them to be the Champion again, neither Chelsea. But if you realistic enough, you have to accept that one of them has the greatest chance.

I doubt that Arsenal will win it again. Looking at the game Boro's defence was HORRIBLE, me and my friends would had done a better job than they did. That is why Arsenal was able to go through them and score so easily, the goals were something players would score in training.

Arsenal defence is shaky as well. One of Boro's strikers passed through 6 Arsenal's players, not one single tackle made. That is some horrible defence if you ask me and their goalkeeper is even worse. We can crush Arsenal anytime of the day with our current squad imo.

It's true, in the Boro match their defense looked vulnerable,  don't know why they fielded another dodgy player beside Lehmann: pascal cygan. But that's just the point, even with vulnerable dfense, they wereable to play superbly. I think  Wenger is more than aware about this. He will sort it out and make them more scary.

Arsenal have quality all over the pitch, they are most likely to be Champions again this season.
Henry is an important part of the team, but they have enough strike power to win games without him. Reyes for example is an absolutley class player, hopefully our spanish signings can be as successful as he has been so far. :)

Yeah that Reyes looks terrific, he seems stronger and fitter than when he arrived and now seems to have adapted to the pace of the premiership. He's going to be some player!

lets have a look at the two supposed best teams.

        ARSENAL                LIVERPOOL

GK     lehmann                dudek/kirkland
RB     lauren                    josemi
CB     campbell                hyypia
CB     toure                     carragher
LB      cole                      riise
RM     pires                     garcia
CM     vieira                    gerrard
CM     fabregas                alonso
LM     reyes                     kewell
CF     bergkamp                baros
CF     henry                     cisse

looking at those two teams, there's not a lot between them at all for me.we have a better keeper, right back, and a stronger central midfield. what we don't have is the same telepathic understanding, movement off the ball and ruthlessness that they have. we also don't have that dennis bergkamp style player to unlock defences. at the moment, their aura is intimidating their opponents but i for one feel that they are definitely beatable.

I agree but give it time and the whole squad will know each others gameplay.

I don't care what anybody else might think but I believe we can come in the top two positions, that may be unrealistic but I will believe something different when I am proven wrong.

Thats not belief , thats facing the FACTS !!!! :D

Arsenal will finish above LFC this season by a considerable margin.

People on here are saying it's an experimental season when Benitez will develop the players and the style of play to challenge next season. In the same breath they say we should get nearer to challenging this season......

You can't have BOTH !

Either write this season off and put it down to development or say we are going to challenge.

Someone ought to tell Ste Gerard the plan cos i thought he said he was staying cos he believed LFC could challenge THIS season ?

???

And being dumped out at right Midfield (Gerard) at Bolton to accommadate 2 essentially identical players in Alonso and Hamann isn't going to go too well with Stevie G either !

qualifying for CL will be in my mind a good achievement, I think Arsenal and Chelsea will finish ahead of us and we will fight for 3rd with the Mancs.
