Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez was at Goodison Park on Saturday to cast a close eye upon Spanish midfield ace Xabi Alonso of Real Sociedad.
Alonso is the Spanish playmaker who was linked with a move to Real Madrid but that failed to materialise. The player is highly rated and played for Spain in Euro 2004.
The midfielder played for the first half in the friendly between Everton and Real Sociedad.
