Slightly off topic, but this lad deserves mention.

What a player. He's only about 21/22 if i'm not mistaken.

World class.

5 games?

Oh right, what about all those he played for PSV and Holland? ???

And yes, a player with amazing technique, shooting ability, fantasic skill, excellent pace, good strength, excellent passing, invention, intelligence, link up play with good movement and a decent work ethic with a desire to improve is world class.

Simple as that.

Greedred, if you're going to speak to me in future, use my name or drop dead ya stupid ******.

It's players like Robben that put into perspective this whole thing that managers talk about when they're trying to bring youngsters through. He's like players such as Owen, Anelka and Rooney - they were thrown in at the deep end while in their teens, and they were able to swim. Then look at players such as Pongolle and Le Tallec. We may be sat here until they're in their thirties kidding ourselves that they're going to fulfil this wondrous youthful potential.

Similarly when people talk about ages late 20s/early 30s being the peak years for players. It's absolute b*llocks. I don't know where this myth was perpetuated, but it doesn't appear to have been at LFC. Players are either good or they're not, and very few players sustain the same level from the beginning of their career to their twilight years - it's just a matter of having the ability, and then working to maintain your fitness from whatever age you start to whatever age you stop. Generally, if a player starts coming through when they're 17, they're shot by the time they hit 30.

Sorry, I'm straying way off topic now. Arjen Robben - an absolute class act. You look at Arsenal with Pires and Ljungberg, and Chelsea with him and Duff... Suddenly I can't help but feel like we're kidding ourselves if we think we're going to compete this season when we've got an underachieving Aussie and a Norwegian left-back vying for one wing, and an Irish right-back toe-to-toe with a Spanish link-up midfielder to fill in on the other.

Robben is one amazing player. He has adapted in the EPL faster than expected. His skill is magnificent.
