My main concern is that they're not going to gel as a partnership per se. I think Suarez and Kuyt together are great and think the trio of Adam, Downing and Carroll are going to be the deadly ones

I do have to admit I have reservations about Suarez linking up with Carroll. Carroll is great in the air, tall and powerful, plus he has a rocketof a left foot. Suarez likes to cut inside and is quite happy operating in closed spaces. I don't think their styles of play are particularly complimentary in practice, though on paper the little and large thing seems to conjure up some sort of success.

It's the versatility we have in attack that's got me buzzing. We have a plan B!! (and C and D!!!)  :buttrock

I have no doubt Carroll is a good striker worth having in the side. He has a thunderous left foot and good in the air but I still think he's not worth 35 million

I have a few concerns with Carroll and Suarez' ability to play on he pitch together. At times towards the end of last season, it seemed he breaking the rhythm whenever he came into the team. Suarez and Kuyt looked a much better prospect. Might turn out that we play 2 different systems but I hope Carroll and Suarez manage to form a partnership.

I disagree with the main sentiment of your post here.

Remember last season when Carroll was playing in Europe and we were complaining because we turned to such an ugly style of football, just hoofing it to him over and over again?  We were so predictable.  Now, like you also said, we are versatile.  We have 2 different strikers that can do 2 different things, and it keeps the opposition on their toes.  Before we had Torres and they would guard him like crazy because he was our best player.  Well now we have 2 really talented attackers that do different things.  Teams will have to specifically adjust to playing against them, it will be too much for most teams.  They don't have the man power or experience to put a lot of pressure on both of them.

I get what you're saying in their styles not exactly complimenting each other, but they can.  One thing Carroll loves to do is get into the box and head the ball down.  If he's not in a good scoring position, he loves to head the ball down to a team mate.  That's one of the reason Nolan scored so much last season is because Carroll would often head the ball right for him to tap in.  That actcually happened when they beat us.  Carroll headed the set piece right to Nolan's feet and he tapped it in.  That's perfect for both Suarez and Kuyt.  I'd say if either, Suarez doesn't necessarily play to Carroll's liking, but what's great about Suarez is he will get into those dangerous positions down the line and he will send a decent chip into the box.

Downing Adam and Carroll will be deadly, and Kuyt and Suarez play really well together.  What's fantastic is that as of now, I imagine all 5 of these will be in the starting lineup together.  We now have that diversity that almost every team lacks.  We're unpredictable now.  Adam and Gerrard can both stick great balls in the air or on the ground.  Downing is one of the best crossers in the league, but he can play the passing game as well.  And he can get into great positions too.  Kuyt is everywhere at once, so as I see it he can really fit in with anybody.  Sure, his crosses kill me every time, but his work makes him one of the best players against the bigger clubs.

I'm so excited for our attacking options next season.  We have the players that can score goals and we have the players that can compliment them.  If we sign an attacking LB like Johnson, I fully expect to score more goals than anybody in the league next year.  Carroll could be a 20+ goal scorer, and Suarez will probably be the same with a lot of assists too.  I actually tip him as player of the season next year if he continues his form from this season.

I am slightly worried about Carroll, but at the same time I'm sure he will be worth every penny we've spent on him.

Personally, I think his valuation will depend on how long he's a red for, if we get 10 years out of him I'd say its worth it

He was NU top scorer before he joined us. I somehow feel he was a panic buy and last season by the way he played, he didn't seem to fit into the Liverpool way of playing. At NU he fit in well. Up front, Suarez Kuyt pair looked more lethal. Many of you said that the lad was lacking match fitness, no wingers and other midfielders to supply goal scoring opportunities for him. Well, come next season with guys like Downing, Adam, Henderson to supply the ammunition, let's see what he can do.

I'm not saying he's no good. He has a thunderous left foot and great in the air as his 2 goals against City proved my point. But what would be the use if he cannot fit into the team? Let's hold our breadth and see what he can do this soon coming season.

The ball is squarely in his court, he has to make it happen, non of us or the manager can do it for him. I have my fingers crossed he's gonna work out.

He's no Robbie Keane ffs...

That's it.

I hope the pressure doesn't get to him because he's got a lot to prove in the next couple months.

Why does he have "Alot to prove" ? Is it due to the pricetag which was incredibly shifted due to us agreeing to keep 15 million from the Torres sale and giving Newcastle the rest?  Is it because he came to us injured?  Carroll will be a very good striker for us.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

the number of people in the media who are already writing him up is laughable. i keep hearing "the jury's out". well der, the bloke's played about six competitive games so of course the jury's out. it's not his fault that we paid £35m for him at the end of the day. he's only worth what a club is willing to pay for him and we were backed into a corner due to the lateness of the deal in the transfer window.

it would be the same whether he cost £15m or £35m. it's modern day football. players don't get half a season to settle in anymore. they get five minutes. once the lad gets fully fit he'll be a beast, especially with a lot more supply coming from the wide areas and set piece delivery this season.
