You'd think that if Carroll was fit he'd be up top with Suarez on the left, but one of the reasons we're doing so well is the mobility of this front 4 and especially Suarez. These four are making runs all over the place.

I've not watched much of Andy Carroll before he came to us, but he isn't all that mobile is he? Not sure how he fits into this Liverpool 1st team right now. He has got a lot of work to do over summer I think.

The very concern I raised with my mates when watching the game last night...

Options and depth people. With Carroll and Gerrard yet to come there's loads of plans we can be taking into games now, I can't wait to see who we bring in. Might be able to make two pretty strong 11's

Stevie Heighway on the wing

If Andy Carroll can't get into our run on XI I'm not complaining. Better than having N'gog as first choice starter, as happened a few times this year!

I like depth, I like options, especially if we make it into the EL (despite a primary focus on the top 4 next year, it won't just be treated as another reserve match, nor should we treat it like that). Just pointing out that our 35 million pound striker may play a little less than he expects!

my exact thoughts when we scored 10 goals in 2 games but didnt we played better without Carroll?
Carroll will be a good signing but we probably over paid for him.
but not much harm done as we used the money from judas's sale, so i wont be too worried abt this.

complementing Carroll's aerial abilities with a couple of new signings (wingers) and we will get the best out of him.

Andy Carroll isnt as slow as he looks, the fact he is so tall means he has a massive stride which moves him across the pitch fairly quickly. He is not the fastest but he is no slouch either.

I'm really looking forward to seeing him next year when he is fully fit!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

we wont see much out of him until we can get some wingers into the team who can cross the ball, the team has zero width right now

the English Fernando Morientes. we can laugh all we want at Torres' awful form but at least he isn't as one dimensional as Carroll. horrible game last night, i don't care if he hadn't had much games whatsoever there were numerous instances last night where his positioning was garbage and he did not seem eager enough to chase the ball down. so many times when we were attacking, the one question on my mind was "where the hell is Carroll?"

lets just get him a summer break and ready for next season. Might as well get behind him. Him and Suarez are our boys going into next season. I'm confident he'll make it. He's had injury problems since he came, he needs to get over them, have a summer off (or at least a little break) and start fresh. He showed what he can do against City. Get some width and we'll be fine.

He'll be the kind of player if you put the ball in the box he'll put it in the net

it doesn't matter mate. there was a vivid instant in the second half where the ball just went by him and he didn't make any attempt to go for it. hopefully he can prove me wrong and make me eat my words but so far from what i've seen, he's never worth the amount paid and his style of play does not complement Suarez's. he just isn't fast enough to anticipate Luis's movements.

I think its great that Carroll will be playing with England during the summer.  Having missed out on alot of this season he needs games rather than to be sitting on a beach.  Hopefully he'll hav a good tournament and come back to pre-season with renewed confidence.

Also, back in February '87 Dalglish signed Aldridge because Ian Rush's departure to Juventus was imminent.  At the end of the season Aldo was worried that his style of play was not suited to Liverpool.  Dalglish told him not to worry that he was going to buy wingers.  John Barnes arrived soon after and was followed by Ray Houghton.  The rest is history.

Likewise Sean. At first I wasn't happy he had been called up but the match practice will do him some good. I just hope the worst of his injuries are behind him.

Agreed mate, hopefully he comes back fit and sharp back in pre-season. We just need a couple of wingers to compliment him. Joey Barton isn't a winger, but he got the best out of him with Newcastle.

and good point on Aldo too

I'm holding my judgment until next season

He needs to cut that ponytail off before folks start drawing too many parallels with the Ukrainian Porno Star.

Looked too uni-dimensional against Spurs, Suarez was creating many different chances and opportunities, keeping their defence totally tied up - he was a constant threat whereas Carrol just lolloped around slithtly above walking pace. Give the lad another season by all means but he needs a kick up the arsé as well.
