One of the Worst pieces of business in the history of this club's transfers, and wider football. And now he won't budge, there surely goes part of Rodgers' plans for summer business.

but thats the point, he will go, but only to a club that he wants to play for (which is fair enough, he`s under no obligation to sign for a club that he doesnt want to play for just to save LFC a bit of embaressment)
the ball is in our court, okay we will take a hit financially (because they hold all the cards, he`ll probably end up going to newcastle for somewhere between £8m-£12m imo) but at £35m we always were going to take a hit financially if we ever wanted to sell him on again.
it`s in LFC`s hands now.

This will definitely be a blow to our transfer plans because the money from Carroll were planned for the Greek... not so much good news today...

That will mainly hurt the club as we have to pay his wages while his value drops.

We just have to accept a low bid for him to get rid of him this season so we can avoid another aquilani saga.

you cant blame the lad for any of this, he's dead right to either dig in or get a move he wants.
this saga is no one's fault but our own, when you publicaly tout the player around and say he has no future at the club then you have to be prepared to take what you get or be prepared to loan him out again and lose even more money next year.

Anybody that is surprised or shocked by Carroll's behaviour is being as naive as anybody that thinks Comolli was the only person involved in the ridiculous £35m deal......

I think everyone needs to calm down.

Andy is on holiday for 2 weeks and nothing's going to happen until he returns from that.

What behaviour is that ? Carroll wanting to prove himself ?

As for the Carroll deal and Comolli - read Kennys bio - what happened is in there

I'll be very surprised if Andy agrees terms with West Ham. Why should he unless they match or get close to the £80/90k a week he is getting at Liverpool and to be frank I think there is very little chance of that happening. His contract has got another two and a half years to run. He hasn't been treated favourably by Liverpool and won't be inclined to do us any favours as a result.Would he take a £2m a year pay cut if West Ham offer £50k a week? Let's face it nobody is running after Andy with an open cheque book. Only West Ham have made an offer over the last 12 months which is an indicator of his true value and possibly his potential. Andy could run his contract down with loan deals and we could end up in McManaman/Owen situation if we are not very careful. He isn't going to attract massive wages in the future from other clubs due to his now exposed limited ability.

And if you think that Ayres and the owners had nothing to do with sanctioning a £35m spend regardless of what Kenny says then I think you are being very naive. Comolli may have made the recommendation and negotiated the idiotic deal but who signed the cheque and had ultimate responsibility for running the football club. Kenny also did not object to the idea of buying Carroll and at that time a sum of £30m was probably being suggested. If Kenny was happy with that given Andy's very limited Premiership experience then he cannot be totally absolved of not being part of this appalling transfer deal.

But you don't actually know what Carroll himself is doing ? Making judgements based on rumours from tabloids because Carroll himself hasn't said anything. You're making an assumption that its all about money for Carroll when the truth could be a whole lot different. So we can't judge Carrolls "behaviour" or be surprised by it because nothing has happened yet.

As for the transfer -Comolli sorted it out , Kenny agreed on the player and the owners signed the cheque. The price paid was down to the deal Comolli sorted out - the owners trusted his judgement

Do you actually believe that West Ham haven't offered Andy personal terms? Andy has not agreed anything with West Ham. That would indicate that he is not going to simply roll over and let Liverpool recoup £15m that could be possibly utilised to greater effect elsewhere. I'm not criticising his behaviour but none the less I'm not simply removing his actions from the process and blaming the situation on media speculation.

I believe that Carroll won't do anything until he finds out if Newcastle will make a bid - because that's where I think he wants to go regardless of money

What a waste of millions. Comolli and Kenny signed him for 35M and now two and half years later we'll be lucky to sell him for 17M. Kenny's buy British at whatever cost worked in the 80s but not today's PL where the top 4 teams have so many foreign talents present. The owners who didn't know much about football at the time  trusted Kenny and Comolli and must have been shell shocked by the millions wasted and have become over cautious and stingy with funding. Looks like BR will only be funded with 20M and the rest from free transfers, signing kids and selling fringe players. I just cannot expect us to finish 4th next season with the club at this current way of doing things. What I do expect is, the club to progress and finish 6th and collecting 71 points in the next campaign. If we can do that, then CL football could be in the horizon soon but IMO, next season definitely not, knowing the owners' way of funding the manager. I am sure they won't set a top 4 finish for BR yet for next season like they did with Kenny 2 seasons ago.
