carroll wasnt worth £35m or anything like it but the fee wasnt his fault.
at the end of last season he was becoming a important player for us, he put in impressive performances against the likes of everton, chelsea and united.
he scored a last minute winner in the biggest derby game in a quarter of a century and nearly single handedly turned around the f.a cup final against the european champions.
much rather have him on the bench to bring on than the likes of borini or morgan.

What utter bollox !! Andy for fifteen months was utter sh.ite and yes towards the end of the season when it was too fkg late he showed some signs of improvement. I accept that he had a few decent cup matches but surely two goals in the second half of the season in the league against an awful Wolves and a terrible Blackburn is simply dire for a striker. His league record now stands at 3 goals in about 37 league games which is absolutely pathetic.

personally i hope he comes back here, there`s definately room for a physical center forward at the club
we are so lightweight it`s untrue, half of our squad get brushed off the ball far too easily (sterling, suso, sahin, allen, assaidi, borini etc etc) and a lot of the others arent exactly particularly strong either, agger and skrtel are good players but as centre halves go they are not that strong and suarez and sturridge arent exactly battering rams either.

f*cking hell, late night  :D

Yea Allardyce wants him to stay, got 'arry on the mind for some reason!

Yes the fee we paid shouldn’t be used as a stick to beat him with as it has nothing to with him. There are other people to blame for that. But that shouldn’t stop us taking an objective view of Carroll’s ability, and as far as “physical” strikers go, he isn’t actually one of the better ones. Sure he is physically strong but far too many of his other attributes are very poor.

Regardless, there needs to be some sort of strategy behind the squad we assemble and that doesn’t necessarily mean we need a tall one, a short one, a fast one, etc. You can have both a philosophy and variety. This time next week our striking options should include Suarez, Sturridge and a fit again Borini, and they all bring something different to the table. I wouldn’t include Carroll in our match day squad ahead of those 3.

Now that we have Sturridge, it looks like Newcastle will lose Ba to Chelsea, and I don’t think it’s out of the question that the barcodes will try and sign Carroll in the transfer window.

I highly doubt Newcastle will pay the reported £17m fee that we want for Andy Carroll. Who in their right mind is going to sell someone for £35m only to re-sign them two years later for £17m?

Andy Carroll has struggled in the last two years, with confidence, with finding the net and injuries have also come in thick and fast for Andy. I think Newcastle United would be best placed to look elsewhere for a new striker. You can get a good striker without needing to shell out £17m for one.

The 2 most expensive players in the Jan 2011 transfer window Carroll and Torres have been utter flops. If you look at the Chelsea forum esp. after the home defeat to Swansea, majority of their fans do not like him and with only 7 PL goals so far as a return for 50M, that is a totally unacceptable. Now the bloke has made a villain out of himself with the Kop and his 'big club' Chelsea fans.

You're talking Chelsea.. Every game they win, Torres is the best striker in the prem and Benitez > fergie.  Any time they don't win, Torres is public enemy #2 (behind Suarez, of course) and Benitez is < Scolari.

Torres has at least started scoring some goals for Chelsea and his record since he joined them is 14 goals in 48 league games which admittedly is poor by his standard. Andy however has managed 7 goals in 35 games and 1 goal in his last 9 games which is utterly dire. Both flops yes but I think Andy just about wins that one on the flopometer !!

Torres was and still is a wonderful player. Carroll is way, way below him, there's simply no comparison.
