Roger you got it all wrong, it's not aboat gloating or about proving BR wrong ,it's about the decision to release a striker (which yes failed to impress) from an already deplated strikers team. When you come to think of it we don't have ONE great striker ,Suarez is sloppy and careless ,Borini time will tell ,sterling a process in progress ,Morgan? So it's not really about Carrol it's about releasing a legitimate striker from a squad without getting a decent replacement.

Maybe we should wait until 11pm today to see if Rodgers has done the right thing

I agree with the general consensus, not a smart move if we aren't going to bring another striker to replace Carroll.

We will know very well where we stand in the next 24 hours and if we do bring Dempsey in, Rodgers and the owners will have A LOT of explaining to do..........

The move is good for him, no one can tell how good or bad it will be for us until the season is over. So let's wait.

My concerns are not that we have got rid but more than we have moved out a striker without first securing a replacement, it's a risky strategy. There have been many a club shafted on the last day where certain signings have collapsed. I truly hope we sign someone soon because if we are left depleted they'll be a lot of finger pointing.

Sh.it Thommo you talk as if Andy scored every time a ball came in  :grinning:  I don't quite remember it like that! He got better in his last three months but that was partly because he was so fkg bad for fifteen months that any improvement was going to be impressive. I wish him all the best but I'm not sorry to see him go and I totally admire Brendan for having the cojones to get rid a record club signing that simply hasn't worked out !!

I hope he does bang in a hat full of goals. He's still a liverpool player and an upturn in his form will likely either lead to a further chance here or failing that an improvement in his current transfer value.

I'm sure we will be bringing another striker in by the end of today.

I agree with aleneseVons.  This loan deal is a load of nonsense.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

You lads see my earlier post??

Its a strange situation and shows the naievity of the football community.

Torres wanted out and Liverpool let him go at short notice.
Liverpool paniced and bought a 'likely lad' who'd done reasonably well for 12 months.
But did Kenny properly consider how and where he could be used when replacing Torres?
The team was set up for a SG=> Torres partnership, how would Carroll compliment that strategy?
So Kenny bought a handy footballer, but not for the team and style of football Rafa Benitez had set up.

Today we see it a lot clearer, BR constantly states a player must fit the role in his vision of how the team will play.
We never heard Kenny justify buying Carroll in those terms.
Kenny gave lots of support to the lad, even went to a pop concert to make him 'feel at home'
but the amount of time Kenny had him on the bench showed that he'd bought someone that didn't fit into his own vision
nor, as we see now, BR's vision of a league championship winning side.

The key question is did Kenny actually identify Carroll as being 'the man he wanted to fill Torres' place, or if he just bought a player.
As the lad never established himself as a starter, you have to conclude he was both a panic and a completely mistaken buy.
Kenny himself, bless him, never came out and said he was building the team around 'X' style of play and that Carroll was a pivot man in making that style a successful reality.

So a difficult to admit conclusion, Kenny bought him and once he'd arrived, had no idea whatsoever what to do with him.

Clearly Comolli nor Clarke had any solution so good riddance to them as well.

What a total fiasco.

I'm really sad to see big Andy go. But I'm not panicking until the window is over. If we bring in a couple of decent front men, then letting him go on loan was the right decision, despite how I feel about him personally.

I agree Reg.  I just don't like the fact we loaned him instead of just selling him.

That ugly fkg cu.nt Allardyce has been spouting this morning that there were several clubs interested in Andy Carroll. Well to be frank I'd like to know who the fk they are and please don't mention that bunch of jordie jokers who clearly don't think that much of Carroll if £12m was their best offer !! Spearing falls in the same category, no other teams are really interested and we have had to settle for the best loan deal we could find. Trouble with Spearing is that we won't save much in wages because he isn't on a massive contract. Franky I just think that Brendan wanted to see the back of the likes of Adam, Carroll and Spearing anyway he could. Downing and possibly Henderson will be shipped out in the summer unless they really start to play some decent football. As for Cole and his £90k a week I just fkg despair. Everton shop in the basement and over the years buy players like Cahill,Lescott,Arteta and Jelavic who cost labour £16m for the lot of them which is considerably less than we paid for that utter waste of space Downnig! Ffs somebody needs a good kicking for the money we have wasted over the past few years.

Not too upset to see Carroll go although I would have preferred if we had of sold him for a decent bit of money.
Decent player but not Liverpool standard really.

Has it occurred to you that maybe not body wanted to offer the reported £17m that we have demanded for Carroll?
