we're looking like we're in the sh!t striker wise, might be a frustrating nite - we need to keep a clean sheet, if we concede we're done IMO
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Unfortunately i think they are able to fashion at least one, perhaps a couple, clear chances and i think they will look for that second goal - which would be a mountain to climb given our options.

I dont think its in Atletico's nature to sit on any lead - especially this season.  Even accounting for them having no real danger to face with Torres - but they know we HAVE to attack them, the counter attack is always going to be on. They have multiple threats on the break who are all adept at winning a match...and here they dont even need to do that. It will be a fraught and tense affair - a balancing act between keeping a tight ship and plundering whatever spoils we can.

Gerrard is crucial. Its all on his shoulders. It would be fantastic to see the rest of the outfield match his drive and spirit. They're going to have to.

I really hope we tear into them from the off. Rattle 'em good style and maybe, just maybe (from somewhere) get the rub of the green and see how we go. Hell, what better incentive than an appearance in a Final!

heel only start with aqua because of the all the  injuries and maxi being cup tied. Our bench is so lightweight especially in attacking options. They have augero back gona be our toughest test by a long shot.

I really hope Rafa will start with Aquilani and Yossi, we need some creative, attacking play to go through.   3-1.

To me Carra and the Greek together sounds like waaaaay to slow a partnership to go up against Kun and Forlan

I would be tempted to play:
                       Reina
Mascherano    Carra    Agger   Johnson
                Gerrard     Lucas
  Pacheco         Aquilani         Yossi
                      Babel

Assuming that N'gog and Kuyt aren't fit.  If they aren't Rafa is going to have to reach deep in his pockets to fill out the bench. Don't be surprised if you see a name like Amoo, Kacaniklic, or Bruna

Seems you answered the question yourself mate  :D

I would have prefered Riera myself, but I doubt Rafa would agree with that one. So I would move Benny to the left and played El Zhar, or like you Pachecho.

Since then however I have heard Kuyt will be fit and the team will be :-

Reina
Masch
Carra
Agger
Johnno
Benny
Stevie
Lucas
Babel
Aquilani
Kuyt

Presumably based on the white bib theory? with Masch right back and Johnson LB.

well at least there was something to my idea that the Greek isn't right for this game, which at the time I thought was at least half a crackpot theory.

I am wondering if the Greek is fully fit, he didn't play on Sunday either, or if it is in fact for tactical reasons. Seems strange to disrupt the team so drastically if he's not injured though. It does allow him to squeeze Lucas into the starting line up though  :D
