Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Owzat » Tue Apr 27, 2010 7:24 am

Who gives a feck about these sportsmen and celebs' personal lives?!?! I mean are we a nation that is summed up by a glossy gossip magazine? He plays football for his living, what he does off the pitch is no more someone else's business than what each and every person discussing it does in their spare time. As if Gerrard would be the first person/footballer ever to commit such a heinous crime, get over yourselves judges and juries.

Our press is possibly the most hypocritical in the world. They have the "COME ON ENGLAND" and gather in as many former players as they can for there "expert" opinion and show that they are behind the team and willing us to success....

...Then in the next breath doing everything they can to scandalise as many as they can representing england.

Look at when Sven got set up by the rag. As one comedian pointed out, "If your going to set someone up before the world cup, choose the brazil manager ! not one of our own !"

I dont bother with any of the rags because of the sh!t they produce, however like any bad disease, it seems to be spreading to other parts.

The press only do it if they sell papers and then make money. They only sell papers if they have an audience, so it is us that buy into it. Negativity sells more than positivity and you only have to see this site to figure that one out.

The press only back the team because there is a market. Once a better story that will sell more comes along, they'll be on that bandwagon, whether it is true or not is irrelevant.

Sign of the times I'm afraid but at the end of the day we buy the papers.

Good post, but it's not shocking, it's ENVY.

When someone is very good at something, in this case football, and that someone doesn't play for the team that the journos W*nk about --Manchester United--, they are ready to spread whatever shíte is said about that someone.

The problem that Gerrard has is that he's very good in football, and that generates envy.

This rumour really sums up what is wrong with a lot of people in this nation.

We seem to hate people who are successfull, who are happy in life, especially the papers ( red tops ). How do these reporters sleep at night, some of the headlines you see in filth like the NOTW, S*n makes me sick because its just blatant lies to sell papers.

Capello will be next, if England dont win the world cup, they will be calling for his head and dragging up :censored: from his past just to get what they want.

Ok some footballers dont do themselves any favours and deserve some of the headlines they get after their antics, but you never see any headlines of a decent guy out enjoying a day with his family do you? ??????

The gossiping and rumours is all part and parcel of being in the media headlines and im sure most celebs or sports stars are more than used to it by now . Gerrard has had thousands  of rumours and gossip said about him , he mentions it in his dvd a couple years back and now just ignores it and if he thinks it will effect his family then he will just call in the lawyers to the papers printing it .

If you choose to live in the public eye and reap the rewards then you must be prepared to accept the pitfalls, I personally do not read the gossip papers as I am not interested but you cannot just blame newspapers as investgative journalism does a very valuable job and if they uncover something that is true they will print as they believe that it is their duty not only to the public but also to the paper to sell more and make money.

The problem here is the internet and all of the rumours and untruths that spread like wildfire, if a newspaper prints lies then they will be sued and forced to print an apology, you cannot do that to the message boards and such and that is were the problem lies.

The daily star had to be the worst,

"Gerrard and Alex in love split hell" (to suggest that they have so they sell papers)  plastered over the front page in big writing and then in small writing at the bottom it says "footie ace and wife blast rumours". The media in this country need some kind of ban on printing sh!t like th!s, they get away with murder they really do.

You could make a complaint to the Press Complaints Commission.
