Sorry about the late reply! But on this evidence it shows that we need Aquilani playing more or Lucas to attack more. Our midfield duo have only be able to produce 2 assists between them, which is pretty shocking when Insua has 4 and gets criticised a lot. What's even more of a worry is how Torres is our only player to hit double figures! Far too many of our players have underperformed especially Gerrard.  For our last games we need to have attacking impetus. Let Aquilani and Babel play more. Try and Lucas and Aquilani and see is Lucas attacks more. Bed in Pacheco as well as he looks really good.

it also shows that for the amount of time kuyt spends on the pitch, he doesn't contribute enough. but of course, his lovers and the rest of rafa's love children here mesmerized by his pace, skill, intelligence and natural footballing ability will disagree.
p.s. compare kuyt and babel's goal and assist efficiency and tell me why kuyt is always the third name on the team sheet after lucas and insua while babel has to sit through being frozen out. is it coz i is black? :blues:

I have never read any of the forums I frequent and seen the words skill or natural footballing ability mentioned in the same sentence as Dirk Kuyt.

He is not pretty to watch, he is not blessed with skill and he id defintely anything but natural.

He is however hard working, a huge team player and an outstandingly honest and genuine perormer.

In the current climate of prima donna spoilt lazy footballers he is a breath of footballing fresh air.

For a right midfielder (predominently with a handful of games up front covering for Torres) double figures and 5/6 assists for the season is an excellent return wether you think he looks like sloth off the goonies or not.

Take a look at a decent example in our squad of the opposite. Babel, with tons more skill and bags more potential and natural ability - tries no where near as much as Kuyt and is a waste of space at times. I know which I would rather have.

Dutch managers for the last four or five seasons also cant be that far off the mark with the kid.

:bowdown

I can understand to a degree the lambasting of Lucas for his shortcomings, but why quite so much venom is aimed at Kuyt I will never know. Worse players than him, past and present get less criticism

i'd rather play the one who puts in half the effort but scores a goal every 2.3 starts and and lands an assist every 7 starts.

fair play if you prefer the one who runs around like a headless chicken, scores a goal every 3.7 starts and lands an assist every 8.25 starts.

...look, each to their own - Kuyt has his positives but i don't agree that a liverpool team should be picked based on how hard a player works - this isn't sunday league football.

anyway, who cares - it's a great day  :)

Stats are just that, stats. They dont tell the full story - bad refs, beachballs, sendings off that change the flow of a game, injuries that forced a change on a  winning side etc...

Someones done a lot of work there, but...........
