Ex-players xi - ...just for a bit of fun

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby JC_81 » Sun Apr 11, 2010 11:13 pm

Following Danny Murphy's recent comments about Liverpool letting some decent players go over the past few years it got me thinking...

Could you make up a 'best XI' of current ex-LFC player (ie ones that still play) that could rival our current squad?

Here goes...

                               Friedel

Finnan           Arbeloa           Hyypia         Riise

                              Sissoko

                   Alonso              Murphy

    Anelka                                             Bellamy

                               Crouch

Looks like a decent lineup to me... apart from Arbeloa at centre half which is a bit dodgy!!

If you sub in Keane for Anelka and Kirkland for Friedel then that's a whole XI (and a good XI) sold by Benitez alone!

this quote alone will turn it in to a Rafa discussion mate
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

.                friedel

arbeloa  hyypia  hobbs   riise

         sissoko   alonso

anelka   luis garcia   kewell

              bellamy

i'm not completely convinced about bellamy as the out and out frontman, but generally as a goalscorer i prefer him to cisse, owen, keane, morientes, heskey etc, and i'm assuming we are talking about their current level rather than in their prime, which means that robbie sadly doesn't get a look in. crouchie would be on my bench to give us 'options and possibilities'

Noone going for Biscan at CB? Is Henchoz still playing (as a possible alternative) ? Or for that matter perhaps Medjani or even bambi on ice himself. Noone going for El Spit?
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Half thought about throwing Igor in at the back but then came to my senses. :D  Interesting that no one's plumped for Palleta to partner Sami, or has everyone forgotten all about him?
