If we can't manage to beat Birmingham I can't see why should we pray for others to lose points... I mean, they may lose some points but the problem remains in Liverpool not taking advantage on that

We will finish 5th and deservedly so. So sad with the kind of players we have.

I said second before the season began
That has obviously gone, as has third and fourth
I will now say fifth and the Europa cup. Not a complete disaster but far from satisfactory for LFC

it's a pity that we didn't managed to get positions 18th to 20th... else we might have a crack at being the champions for the Championship league next season by keeping our core of Lucas, Insua, Babel, N'Gog & Riera... :D  this might also make the Americans think twice in keeping their stakes in the club... haha... :p

The team with the most points for 4th deserves it - if we have more points than anyone else to get 4th then we deserve it .

None of the top teams have beaten Birmingham at their place

How many of the top sides lost at Wigan or Portsmouth, or failed to win at Wolves. It's a completely irrelevant point, you get odd quirks where one side has a good record against top sides but then is vulnerable to weaker sides.

when you're in any competition you want other teams to lose, if we were challenging for the prem we'd be rooting for Man u and Chelsea to lose would we not. If we wanted play offs we'd want the teams above and below to lose. even if we were top we'd want second place to lose so we'd have a bigger gap at the top.

As pessimistic as I feel if you look at the remaining fixtures objectively the situation looks almost achievable.

Liverpool
Fulham (h)
West Ham (h)
Burnley (a)
Chelsea (h)
Hull (a)

Estimate - 4 wins, 1 loss - 12 points

Tottenham
Arsenal (h)
Chelsea (h)
Man Utd (a)
Bolton (h)
Man City (a)
Burnley (a)

Estimate - 2 wins, 3 loss, 1 draw - 7 points

Man City
Birmingham (h)
Man Utd (h)
Arsenal (a)
Aston Villa (h)
Tottenham (h)
West Ham (a)

Estimate - 3 wins, 2 loss, 1 draw - 9 points

Our run in is by far the easiest on paper. More home games and only one team in the top 7 to play. Essentially we need Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea to all beat Man City or Tottenham on their respective games (as seen in the above estimates). If the above were to happen the league would look like this come mid May

4 Man City 68
5 Liverpool 67
6 Tottenham 65

For us to stand any chance we have to also beat Chelsea.

but still, at this point if we're starting to pray for other teams to lose we can't say 'oh others lost points there too, so it's fine'.. I mean, is not fine that we don't win our remaining games when we don't even depend on ourselves..
