I look at the four hardest games by league position for us, citeh and spudz

MAN CITY - Man Utd home (2nd), Arsenal away (3rd), Tottenham home (5th), Aston Villa home (7th)
TOTTENHAM - Chelsea home (1st), Man Utd away (2nd), Arsenal home (3rd), Man City away (4th)
LIVERPOOL - Chelsea home (1st), Birmingham away (9th), Fulham home (12th), West Ham home (17th)

What about the other two games you may shout? Well since our's are Burnley and Hull away and they're both in the relegation zone then you can't get much lower than that even if they are away. Is that advantage in games good enough to overturn a five point deficit? (and GD) Maybe. It is interesting that all three sides play their highest placed opponent home, second highest away and third highest home, not much difference between the three hardest but I'd take brum away over their next hardest and Fulham home over their third hardest. While we can slip up, as proven at Wigan, Sunderland, pompey, Blackburn, Stoke AND Wolves this season, I'd rather have three of the bottom four than three of the top six

Hopefully this time we will have our best eleven, and that will make a world of difference.

No guarantee that will make a difference though Kazza, while Torres has missed games this season, he's still played in THIRTEEN DEFEATS :

Benfica (a)
Man Utd (a)
Lille (a)
Wigan (a)
Reading (h) - 30 mins only
Portsmouth (a)
Arsenal (h)
Fiorentina (h) - 26 mins only
Fulham (a)
Chelsea (a)
Fiorentina (a)
Aston Villa (h)
Tottenham (a)

13 defeats, 1013 mins, 3 goals. I'm sure it's a similar tale for Gerrard, injuries is not nearly the excuse some like to think it is

I'm sure in some of the games, Torres and Gerrard played when they're not fully fit...

Our away form is poor, only managed to win 4 matches out of a possible 16. So I'm only expecting us getting 6 points out of our 3 away matches and another 6 points from our home matches. Finishing with 66 points.

Unless things change on the strategy, tactics and formation else I see us very predictable on the result irregardless of players' desire for CL football next season.

You say we will only get six points from our three away fixtures, is that two wins and a loss or three draws. I cannot see us not beating Burnley and Hull and we will not lose to Birmingham.

3 draws wont get 6 points.... On paper, most probably losing to Birmingham but I hope I'm wrong.

West Ham- City could be a real nail biter.

I am not counting out Villa with the fixtures they have left.

forget it dudes... face up to reality... we don't deserve to be fourth... be happy that we sit in seventh place come the end of the season... with players such as Lucas and Insua in the squad and playing regularly, we are considered lucky that we will still be playing premier league football next season... :p

I'm guessing we wont make it, but as far as I remember, the previous talks said that we were allowed one draw max, but that was attended for the match against Chelsea, but we can beat Chelsea cant we?Still, If we do win the remaining ones, I think that we still wont make to fourth place.

True

WTF was he playing at dragging Torres off at 1-1? Brings on Ngog (The most useless striker in the Prem) in a game we must win to keep our SLIM chances of finishing 4th alive

Rafa lives on a different planet to the rest of us, in fact it looks more like hes trying to fk the season up even more than it already is.

The board needs to grow some balls and sack him now!

Its over now. Man City are 4 pts infront, with an easy game in hand (7pts), and 4 of their last 6 at home.

The problem is we dont have a manager with balls. Instead we have a cowardly, negative, cautious manager who is more concerned about not losing than he is going for the jugular and winning.

City yesterday started with a front three strikeforce away from home, imposed their game on the opposition.... today we started with 1 upfront and the abomination that is lucas in midfield. We set our stall out to be negative and only the last 15 minutes with our season over in sight did we start to create chances. Your meant to do that from the get go and not when its desperation time and you are forced to.

Ordinarily rafa would be sacked.. but the ownership is an even bigger problem, we are crying out for changes as under this manager and owners we are going backwards.

It was over a few months ago. Problem is with some of you lot is that you build unrealistic expectations, and as soon as it becomes obvious to all that these expectations are nothing but blowing smoke up your own ar$ses, you spit the dummys and cry foul. The realistic amongst us realized fourth was gone with our current state of away form ages ago. If you seriously thought we wouldn't drop points in our last 8 fixtures or so, then your head's further up your hole more so than I give credit for.

I dont think its unrealistic for fans to expect us compete for fourth slightly better than we are.
Our away form this season is pitiful, embarassingly bad.
