A Metropolitan Police officer accused of striking a woman with a metal baton at a G20 protest has been cleared.

Sgt Delroy Smellie denied common assault on Nicola Fisher, 36, of Brighton, during the protest in Exchange Square, London, in April 2009.

The officer told City of Westminster Magistrates' Court he feared objects in her hand were weapons.

The girl who accused this guy was throwing stuff at the police during the G20 protests and shouting abuse in their faces. She then sold her story to Max Clifford!

When it went to court she refused to turn up! Glad to see common sense has prevailed.

What a load of nonsense. Those protesters were not there to bake a cake, they wanted a confrontation and when they get one they try to sue? :laugh:
