Rafa happy with performance

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby C-R » Sat Sep 25, 2004 9:25 pm

Rafa Benitez was pleased with Liverpool's performance in a 3-0 win against Norwich.

Benitez admitted that his team eased off when they were sure that a Norwich comeback was not on the cards, but was pleased with their control.

"I'm happy but not very happy," said Benitez.

"We had a good first half with a lot of opportunities to score and maybe we could have scored more goals.

"We needed a goal in the second half and we got it then we played keep ball to control the game.

"We have a [UEFA] Champions League game on Tuesday and sometimes you don't want to ease off but the game was won.

"We played with two up front and they both scored which is good for them and the team.

"We need more time but we are starting to play some nice games now which is good for the future."

I pretty happy with it as well, its good to see us getting 3-0 victories at home. Plus bonus of both strikers on scoresheet and a clean sheet defensive wise.
Good boost for a tricky away leg in the CL

He said he was "happy" but not "very happy", we played well but I think Cisse and Baros need to work together more on the training ground cos they still aren't clicking, it was commented on my Aldo and the other bloke on City :(

I was please with Xabi, I was confident that he could playin Stevies position, ok he is a more laid back player than Stevie but he is class

Yeah ok we've been playing well aginast the likes of West Brom and Norwich but we need to put the performances in against clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U, Newcastle and other teams challenging for the top four places :;):

The ST has quoted Raf as saying he believes the team is operating at 65% capacity which is 5% more than about a month ago.

If he's correct then there is still a long way to go and the potential seems enormous, lets all watch closely and of course there's gonna be a fe hiccups along the way.

80% already sounds reasonable :)

Fully agree. Perhaps Pool should throw away its inhibitions against the top teams and play them as if they were WB or Norwich.

We were a yard slower than the Manures especially in the first half. This squad needs the confidence to match its potential abilities if we play all of them like we did yesterday.
Very enjoyable game, indeed !

On Xabi - never have doubted his ability. But I still think Steven G is better at turning the game around on his own.

exactly. it's one thing being cagey away from home but it's another being plain negative. play two upfront and go at them i say.

Seeing Baros & Cisse play together sometimes make me  :D .

Both of them are quiet selfish & the moment they sense the goal, they shoot instead of passing. I guess Cisse should be the main striker with baros dropping slightly behind him for this partnership to work.

Agree with all of that.

Sometimes its like watching kids in the playground when you see Baros and Cisse play "Who can be the greediest player"  :D

Yesterday was a joy to watch and in Alonso we have a quality player. Gerard ought to be pleased he won't be expected to single handidly drag this team through matches in future  :D
