But under Shanks , Bob, Fagan and Kenny it was US picking up the shiny trophy at the end of the season. No point beating the mancs 10-0 if they are winning the cups and we are crying in our beer.

I would lose 4-1 to the mancs EVERY YEAR if it meant we won the league every year.

BTW You are WRONG. Kenny has the best win loss ratio with 60 odd percent.

edited my post as i was meaning gh and evans when i said previous managers .

And I like you had the pleasure of watching all his Anfield carrier
But unlike you I have no fears for him, the mans not a legend for nothing
Your biggest problem would be he would show Rafa up :D

So you would have no qualms about the f*cking roots on forums calling him a clueless C*nt .... or being behind some crank in the Kop calling him  a w@nker .... F*ck off if you feel half the pride I feel when people talk about the Legend that is Kenny Dalglish ,you would have to be restrained fella .... be truthful  ???

But why are you convinced Kenny would be getting stick?
If there is no top class applicants this summer then I would be happy to see Daggers step in, even if its just to steady the ship and keep the seat warm.
My money would be on him bringing back a style of play we could be proud of.

Kenny would get stick because of the mentality of the newest breed of fans - internet/phonein/telly fans would leap on him the minute he did something they didnt like .

Kenny has already stated a few times in interviews he rates Kuyt very highly so he would play him so would kenny get the same stick rafa does for playing him ?

Kenny is paid by the club to support the manager

Even in a time when 86 points was enough to win the league with FOUR extra games on current seasons

CHAMPIONS THEN AND NOW

1985/86 : P42 PTS 88
1986/87 : P42 PTS 86
1987/88 : P40 PTS 90
1988/89 : P40 PTS 76
1989/90 : P38 PTS 79

2004/05 : P38 PTS 95
2005/06 : P38 PTS 91
2006/07 : P38 PTS 89
2007/08 : P38 PTS 87
2008/09 : P38 PTS 90

Bigger budgets, bigger points.

Would I welcome Kenny back? Probably, he is a legend and I doubt many would call him names if he didn't succeed and those that did aren't worth spit. My concern would be how he'd cope with it himself, especially as mentioned after Hillsborough and everything else including time that has taken its toll on him. But for that day in particular, he might have gone on and sheet all over what whiskeynose has done, instead his departure made way for Souness who took the club apart and we've never recovered. In effect his departure and Souness' appointment left the door wide open for the mancs to dominate, by the time Wenger arrived on the scene to fight the good fight it was an uphill struggle and the mancs had all the money

depends if he could get Kuyt playing at his best or not, if he continued playing Kuyt even when he was liability to the team, as he is at the moment, then yes he would get stick but he wouldn't because he has more tactical awareness in his little finger than Rafa does in his whole, rather corpulent, body.

So I find it especially hard to accept fans putting forward his name as a candidate to manage Liverpool Football Club
It is with this in mind that I change the tone of my post to that of a plea ....I am sorry but to take the chance of having all the Gobsh*tes jump all over him if we lost a game ,or god forbid if he had  even the slightest notion of playing Lucas or Kuyt ,it seriously does not bare thinking about ,no I'm afraid the patience being displayed around on forums isn't exactly prevalent right now ,but could you honestly accept some clueless socially retarded root who never leaves the fu*king house ,calling a true Legend a joke ,because I couldn't some things are best kept sacred and King Kenny is most certainly one of them

Sorry if my post seems a little vociferous in its composition ,but the thought of a Legends name being besmirched or abused by people who have only seen him play on their laptop ,I honestly shudder at the thought ,especially given the disgraceful abuse some have subjected  Benitez to this Season ,Who at one time was another highly respected Manager ,and with respected being the operative word then NO please leave the memories I have of the King well enough alone

Who else hand on heart considers this to be a complete non starter ,given the implications I have stated ,be honest even if you want Rafa gone ,does it not embarrass you when people who are supposedly Reds fans refer to him in a spate of expletives....... truthfully does anyone not feel slightly ashamed as to how far the extent of the abuse towards Benitez ,and some players has reached this season ?

Not that I think for one fleeting moment that he would take the job ,but if he did accept the reins under the current owners ,and I expect an honest reply people ,is it seriously asking  to much for him to flourish in this current climate ,and please if you could remember this is about Dalglish not Benitez or Lucas or Kuyt  :sleep

You speak from the heart my friend and I can only admire the passion you've shown.

Kenny will always be my favourite person to ever be associated with the club.

I cannot agree with you on this though. He's man enough to do the job and face the music if required. I seriously doubt that he will have to though.

If there's one thing I am absolutely convinced of, he will put his heart and soul into it and will demand the same from the players. No fan in his/her right mind can find fault with that.

The man's already a playing legend, proved his worth as a manager at 2 different clubs and will command instant respect from the players.

Our very own fiery Scot will never have his legend tarnished. Enhanced perhaps for not shirking the responsibility of taking the helm at this time of on pitch turmoil and off field disasters.... but certainly not tarnished. The fans will know that..... and not only will they get behind the man but revere him further for having the balls and love of the club to lead the club in this darkest of times.

Good post mate, and I do concur  that Dalglish would be an ideal candidate for the managers role ,his aptitude and ability to manage at the highest level I would never put into question ,but like I explained earlier in the thread mate ,its the  fans varying degrees of  tolerance I have reservations about ,and I do not say that lightly such is the lack of respect afforded to Manager and players alike ,I would not say I was being in anyway pedantic if I pointed out some of the posts regarding the manager and players on this Forum alone ,have been contemptible in their composition

I am in no doubt any manager would suffer taunts from fans who lack the gift of patience ,but to liken that to the disgraceful personal insults from posters supposedly Liverpool supporters    ??? then I would sooner the Great Mans Legend remained untouched by their ignorance ,so I suppose it is solely for purposes of self interest that I want to reserve the  memories I have of King Kenny and for them reasons alone I make no apology's  for my single mindedness .... Surely I cant be alone in my honest assessment ,even when I base it solely on the ignorance of the modern fan  ???

I fully understand your concern mate. It has been a couple of years since I was back at Anfield to watch us play. Even this last Christmas, when I had taken the whole family home, I couldn't make it for the boxing day victory against Wolves. I did however make it to the Madjeski for the Reading game and despite the draw, our fans were as vociferous and united as ever. It was a joy to behold and I hadn't realised how much I'd missed it.

The fans, IMO, will never turn on the manager publicly in such a short time. Sure, many of our fellow fans were expressing bewilderment and a little frustration with how we were set-up and how we were playing, amongst themselves, but the support itself was superb.

I did not hear a single derogatary statement against Rafa. Frustration? Yes. Disappointment? Yes. Insults? No.

IMO, an overwhelming majority of our fans will never behave in such a crass manner as to openly insult the players and manager. But as with all things, it's the few, that get the highest attention from the press. It's much more interesting for the tabloids, newspapers and radio stations to give air time to the idiots.

Seeing as I'm so far away from home most of the time, I've met many overseas reds and by and large they behave in a manner most becoming as reds. Sure, more and more of the fans are becoming disillusioned with Rafa's tenure but overwhelmingly, they don't insult the man. On this forum, I agree strongly that some of the terms used by a fair few posters, to describe him of late are nothing short of disgusting but I would not use that as a yardstick to measure the majority of the fans.

Plus.... you and I both suspect and feel that the voices and opinions of these sort of fans will not mean much to the great man. He'll handle it fine.

The press on the other hand, will have a field day should things go tits up... That fact, I will agree with you.

I'll still have back tomorrow though.... such is my regard for the man and my disillusionment with Rafa.
