In other words your dislike for Rafa has caused you to wish the team to fail (makes sense that :upside: ) , and you get upset when your support for the club is questioned.

If Maureen was our manager and we were in this competition you would be wishing we won then right? Just a thought, maybe Liverpool is not the team for you.

It is a good competion to win, and I am glad to watch more games. I cannot understand why so called supporters are not happy we won yeasterday.

:wwww

Are you always an idiot, or just when BigMick is around ?

The only thing idiotic is you, a real idiot. There is nothing wrong with my post, if you write "I hope we don't prevail" on a forum full of supporters, odds are you will get called on it. Ace, sometimes by trying to be clever, you end up looking stupid (and if you were trying to be funny then you still look stupid)

In my opinion once you accept mediocrity it soon becomes the accepted standard rather than the fall back position. A great man once said " “Aim for the sky and you'll reach the ceiling. Aim for the ceiling and you'll stay on the floor.”

We are a big club, even if you only count the trophies we have won in the last twenty years ..... we are still one of the most successful clubs in England.

I believe we have a team good enough to challenge for the title..... unrealistic ? We challenged last season and maybe if we had been a little more ambitious in some games we might well have won it.

We all want to see trophies back on the menu at Anfield, some of us prefer steak while others are happy with a hamburger, but we are so hungry that even a hamburger will taste good after all this time. What I don't agree with is serving up Hamburger and telling me its steak.

"Its not just any other club" C.Tyldsley
"Liverpool are a special institution" X.Alonso

Ahh, the old fallback when you have no argument.

Oh yeah, it is your love for the club that makes you wish they would lose. Sad really!

As usual any comment on here which is above the base level of "up the reds" causes people to get their knickers in a twist.

Just to recap. I think we should try and win the competition now we're in it, I think we've got an excellent chance of winning it. I do hope however that if we do win it, it isn't used as a blanket, a pot of masking fluid in an attempt to cover up the debacle that has been this season and many before it. If it was a straight choice of winning this and begining another five year plan with the manager, or not winning it and having a different manager in the Summer, I'd take the latter.

Now I know that the last paragraph maybe difficult to understand for some, but there it is anyway. To be lectured on the "it's all about winning trophies" angle though by some of the numpties on here is a first even I never thought I'd see  .

Anyway I'll write it again even though they won't read it. I hope we win it. Lucas's performance was interesting last night dontcha think? No? probably just me.

You hope too much Bigmick. You can't have a thought police that controls every thought in a forum, and at the end of the day, people will post whatever they want.

Remember last summer, when we were coming from a title challenge, and almost no one doubted the club had progressed in the last four years. In fact, people like you, did acknowledge that progress but argued it had been smaller than desired, and that we could have done even better. Which is nice.

But no matter how much we did debate in those days and what common points we found, this season has changed things a lot, and suddenly not only this season but the previous one have been a disaster, and our manager is totally mocked.

My point being that you can't hope anything about what people will say. Think that, if people have to read that we've got no silverware for 3 years, and that's fair, the same people will be very happy if we win that title. And it won't be a blanket, but simply what it is: A trophy to be happy about.

Forums change Mick! Newkit changed from a Pro Rafa forum to an Anti, and it can change again!

But I don't think it will because Rafa will be off this summer, and we'll be able to reset the counter to zero and start discussing about a new manager.

Hopefully he brings more success to Liverpool than the current one, and he brings the sixth, more FA cups, and the league title.

Good post Sabre abd I totally agree about the thought police. This forum has suffered for far too long with such nonsense, and the last thing I'd want to do is impose such a blanket on proceedings.

I suspect you know from what I've written that I hope we win this particular trophy too. Unlike some notable others you don't have some perverse and baffling agenda to satisfy, so you are able to actually read what somebody writes and take the meaning which is conveyed without getting yourself all in a tizz.

I'm not sure I agree with you when you say the forum has become an anti one. It's obviously closer to parity than it used to be, with only the RBFC supporters really firmly behind the manager these days. That said, the forum is moderated very obviously and firmly from a "pro" perspective, with some posters being banned not for breaking any rules but for the slant of their imput. I know this from personal experience so I definately wouldn't agree with your analysis on that one.

As for Rafa leaving at the end of the season, well I obviosly hope so. The bit of your post which caused me to reply was the assertion that the events of this season have changed peoples perceptions of last season. I agree that they have, but I don't find it surprising. Last season when viewed in isolation was positive, as it indicated that after years of uber rotation, defensive set ups, not chasing the wins with enough vigour, ridiculous signings and handlings of players etc we had finally and belatedly got the message. We finally were begining to show some clue that we knew how to win things.

Fast forward of course to this season and all of the previous errors have been repeated in spades. Naturally the conclusion to be drawn from a complete revisitation of our previous madness is that infact lessons haven't been learned, and that last season was in all honesty a flash in the pan, a brief dallience with sensibility. Can anybody sensibly claim that they feel a following of this years policies, from the ridiculous pre season campaigns, through the determination to play two defensive minfielders, to the falling out with all and sundry is about to bring success anytime soon? Of course it isn't. We are ona  downward spiral with this manager, and our number one priority (yes even higher than getting rid of the owners IMHO) is moving him on. Hence my oft repated assertion that if winning the Europa Cup meant we kept him for a further five seasons, I'd rather not. If on the other hand we could win it and still move him on, I'm all for it.

I wish Liverpool fans would get over themselves and stop thinking they are good supporters! 38,000 against Lille in European competition, Newcastle United pulled in more than 39,000 against SCUNTHORPE in the Championship!
You think you have a god given right to be winning stuff, get real you idiots.

Fire brigade phones Chirs Hughton in the early hours of the morning...
"Chris !, St James Park is on fire!"
"The cups man! Save the cups!" replies Chris Hughton,
"Well...the fire hasn't spread to the canteen yet, sir."

BA BOOM !  :wwww
