Best english liverpool xi - You decide

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

This was harder than I though actually. We have had some outstanding ENGLISH players down the years but I finally settled on this team.

                                R Clemence

           P Neal P Thompson T Smith A Kennedy

           J Case S Gerrard T McDermott J Barnes

                          R Hunt   K Keegan

Subs S McMahon, R Kennedy, R Jones,  C Kirkland, R Fowler

Maybe a bit controversial I know. Ray Kennedy or Barnesy way really hard to pick, as was Gerrard or McMahon. Michael Owen doesn't even make the squad due to the dubius circumstances under which he left.

Pick your all time liverpool english eleven. i'm only young so my memory only stetches back a restricted amount of time. it will be interesting to see peoples choices and their reasons behind it. :)

How about little busy Sammy Lee ? I could only remember Jimmy Case most for the way he bulged the net.

If not for his Manure past, would you consider "big-time charlie" Ince ?

OK for the bench, how could anyone miss out SuperSup, Fairclough ? He made 34 sub appearances in 64 games and scored 34 goals !!!

i even came up with a scottish XI :p

                               Lawrence

       Nicol         Hansen         Yeats            Gillespie

                   Wark     Souness    McAllister

                               Dalglish

                  St John                Liddell

now pitch them against the english team and that would be some game. :)  :D

Mark Wright and Michael Owen HAVE to be in there.

What about Aldo?

Ince was a no mark who done ****** all for us and i can't believe people are saying Fowler above Owen.

A young Fowler, at his very best? He was a better player than Owen Stu don't you think? ???
Actually I'm only devils advocating Stu, I know you think the world of Owen. I just think Fowler scored a much greater variety of goals, was better in the air, had better touch, more awareness, better football brain etc. Owen was much quicker though and a much more dedicated professional I'll give him that. I actually think the Robbie Fowler story is a tragic waste of talent. He could have been anything at all.
