I've advocated that for a while, but make no mistakes, I can see the pairing of Lucas with Mascherano being brought back in against the Mancs, and expect Kuyt there too. It's no bad thing either against opposition of such a high class either, because it stiffles them and has worked in our favour in the past 2 seasons. Either way, our form this season has been OK at home regardless of who plays. It's our away form. I think Rafa will set out for a draw at OT with hopes of stealing it. Our bench should look good. Let's hope he uses it well.

Comon, Does Lucas warrant a start after tonight? Aquilani is doing well, is doing better than Lucas.

You can't warrant a start based on performance alone. Yes, Aquilani has played well so far this half, but you have to take into consideration the calibre of the opposition and tactics. Lucas and Mash bossed the middle whenever we've played the Mancs the last 3 times. They've given excellent support for their full-backs defensively, and over the years, anytime we've gotten a win against them, that has been asolute key as they have some very attacking wide players. Against the top four, I don't mind seeing a solid defensive middle, but if Gerrard is fit, then I can't see why Kuyt can either be dropped, put up top with Torres, or Aquilani being put in the hole and Gerrard out wide right. I think that would give us a better attacking balance while keeping a solid defensive line across the back and in the middle of the park. It's against teams like Portsmouth, Wigan etc etc, that both Lucas and Kuyt are not needed and shouldn't be played in the same starting line-up IMO.
